hey guys, tonight i get to write a 3 page paper on why i picked a topic for my semester research paper. only thing is, i have yet to pick a topic...
you would think this would be easy because the paper can be on anything. ANYTHING. [appropriate] in class we had to do an exercise to decide what question to answer for the paper. thinking on the spot w/ all the barrett/jackson talk on here i pulled off some BS about the prices of classic muscle cars
but i have to pick something and write a 3 page paper about why i picked it by tomorrow
I've had a few topics in mind seeing as it would have to be something i could put up with for the entire semester and end up writing a 12 page paper on
I was thinking something car related but most of the kids picked like really big issues and whatnot but i'm still open to ideas; anyone?
thanks in advance

a paper showing the collector car market and how out of control it is could be interesting. barret-jackson is pretty open about letting people research the market, i think mecham(sp?) and the other auction companies are as well.
the major points you coudl spend a few pages each on could be the boom in the muscle car market, the advent of clone/recreation cars as a part of that market, price vs inflation/new car value of both of those points, the reaction of the major auto manufacturers to reinvent the muscle car feeling in the modern market.
you could even spin in the information about the kit car and reproducion parts market and how out of control their prices are getting too.
there is tons of info available about documentation and collector value. throw a few poll results and quotes from magazines like muscle car enthusiast and hemmings about the value scale of certain very rare vehicles and you wold have as many pages as you coudl ever need.
interesting topic, just your mention of it puts me on the brink of collector car investor rant mode. lol

A paper showing investment trends. You can get into how money went into cars when real estate and the markets took a dive.

On the subject of papers....how about something that i can prove fairly easily with statistics for a math class? I was thinking something with NASCAR and wins vs. racers' salaries but I'm open to anything. And Noah, I'm still in HS so I don't have a choice haha.

maybe you shoudl do a survey of the rise of nascrap's popularity vs the nose dive in american driving talent. it will be fun comparing two graphs going in completely opposite directions.

Hell, you could plagarize that all day. There are probably whole books on the topic. Purchases of 'alternative' investments always go up when the markets drop. Art, etc. Cars were the new art. Uh-oh, market is up...and auction prices were down....

Add to it the drop in attendance and ratings for nascrap last year....

Good luck getting info on driver's salaries too. There are hardly ever any specifics of their contracts released.

school loans won't really be anything more than an average student's
only difference is i'm in school 2 extra years and when i get out companies will offer to pay off those loans
