i was at a rangers islanders game last year and Jager broke his Bauer on a Penalty shot. Ive used sherwood wooden sticks for 20 years now with few problems, my GF gets me a sherwood one piece carbon fiber and it didnt make it through my first game, sent it back to sherwood under the 30 day warrenty, wrote them a letter, taped it to teh two broken halves and asked for three wooden sticks in return (which would be about the about the same price as the one, one piece stick which broke under warentey) instead of replaceing the one piece, lets see what showes up this week from UPS

It broke when he blocked the shot that sprung him on the break away.

Great game, as usual the Flyers find a way to lose. Tank the rest of the season and get the first overall pick I say.

The year before the lock out the rangers were out of the playoffs (like ususal) and had one remaining game vs. washington in washington, we drove down to see it, turns out because whoever lost the night before (or however it worked out, i dont remember) if the rangers lost to washington, because of ther new NHL rules they would have gotten a first round pick, like Ovechkin or Crosby, instead the ******** win it in OT on a goal by the ex Devil Holik. It was the first and only time in the NHL's 80 something years it would be bennificial to loose a game... Leave it to the rangers to **** that up

To develop a good slap shot, get roughly a 2' x 4' partical board, of if you can even find a laminated piece of kitchen counter and a dozen pucks and find a park by your house with a baseball back stop. bring your stick, gloves puck and board to the park, put the board only about 12-15 feet from the back stop, take a few shots to get the general mechanics of the shot, grab about 18" up from the blade, get as firm a grip as you can, lock your wrist so when the blade smacks the board the blade is angled so that the puck will rise (at a slight angle) and simply smack the board hard about 2-3 inches behind the puck where the blade will contact the puck somewhere between the heal and center of the blade, anywhere past the center of the blade and the toe and your puck will butterfly as is flys through the air. Just smack 20-30 pucks real easy and you will get accustomed to the mechanics of the shot, you will soon realize that a shorter back swing (slightly over your belt) will result in more velocity. Take a step toards the puck as you shoot it transfering your weight on to your front foot, raising your back foot for balance durring your follow through (you do this already, but work on your foarm for a harder straighter, more accurate shot) have your follow through having the point of the stick pointing to where you want the puck to go, mentaly it will make you shoot more accuratly. Take a few more shots in close but now really rip them, once your comfortable, move the board back a few feet, take some more shots until you feel comfortable, move the board back a few more feet and so on and so forth, at some point you will see that you get to a distance where mentaly you can not shoot it accuractly any more. You see, in warm ups you probably just stand inside the blue line and take 3-4 shots on your goalie prior to a game, you will never get better at it this way, ice time is expensive and roller hockey with a ball screws up your preception of shooting a disc shaped object on ice, use a board, starting close and backing it away from your target every 20-30 shots or so. I used to go to the rink and stand on the blue line and shoot a few lousey shots because mentaly i was trying too hard. Once I went in close to teh net is where I realized I had a good starting point to work on my mechanics and start from there. When i was younger we clocked our shots in high school, i was a defenceman shooting in the 60's sophmore year, i got a board that summer and shot in the 80's my junior year and havent looked back. Unfortunatly, the slap shot is the most useless shot in hockey, I only use it now on the penalty kill or if I have guys in front of the net, and at that I dont close my hand on the stick to keep the shot down low for a deflection

I can rip a slap shot in my garage with a roller hockey puck, but its either the ice, or my skates that just throw me off. Ill try that what kind of board did you get?

Well today we tied 0-0 against cranford, we beat them 7-1 last time, but today they basically brought their varsity team, even the coach was different!! I almost won the game, but we had an old reff who blew the whistle when the goalie wasnt even covering it..
