Too many other variables. Weight, gearing, etc...

What are you trying to compare?

i'm not trying to compair anything...i'm trying to set a goal...wether i have to swap the motor or not...its a 94 with a t5 trans...stock gears...not if i put a 3.73 or 3.42 in the rear...what am i looking at

stock trans, with a 3.4... with a bunch of work, and weight reduction, you may be able to lift one wheel slighty.. i highly doubt youll ever get both with a 3.4 no matter what, but... i could be wrong

well i'm willing to push the limits of that motor...i want that car to pu numbers that have never been seen from it...and thanks for telling every one its a 3.4...now all i'll get is yea right and now way with that...i just want to know range...so i can have a goal to hit

12secondv6 pulled one wheel with 19x rwhp, in a gutted to hell 2800lb car on cheater slicks...and i want to say a 4000rpm stall

5:16 gears, spool, slicks, 5K rpm clutch drop while spraying. if it stays together, you'll yank the wheels

wtf...this isn't even a joke...and how am i suposed to use a stall converter on a MANUAL TRANS!!!!sticks...can afford...this is a buget racer...hopefully...i'll looking for around 300hp at the fly wheel with all motor...i know most of you want to call BS but with the heads, cam, intake and other peices i'm adding..i should be able to get that car going in a hell of a manner

Are you saying you can't afford slicks?

Without the right tires you'll be hard pressed to not go up in smoke. JMHO.

i was giving you an example dickwad...chill the ***** out

and if you can't afford sticky tires just give up now, as a wise man once said, "cheap, fast, reliable; you can only choose two"

A set of used slicks with a few passes on them won't break the bank. I would have gone for more sidewall on those MT's.

Get skinnies for up front with light tires. You need to promote as much weight transfer as you can.

Your T-5 is probably on borrowed time. Again, IMO.

accually i did the fluid...and there was quite a bit of flake...looked like metallic paint accually...but the trans shifts smooth as could be but the clutch if f***** be ond help...i couldn't run a 20s with it

i highly doubt that any t5 will hold together long enough to yank a tire more than once, let alone a 10-bolt rear

Mustangs pull tires with T5s all the time.

lighten the car, get skinnnies, yank the sway bar, at least 4.11s, at least a cheater slick, you may pull a tire with the engine where it is with a 5k launch...may. the Mad Frenchman pulls tires with a 6 banger, no nitrous in that Maverick, so it can be done:wink:

replace your entire drive train and then you may see some results...

And it isnt going to hook good enough on 16" wheels even if you could afford new slicks. The words BUDGET and PERFORMANCE do not go together!!

kind of a stupid goal... spend your money and worry about making power and going fast and the wheels-up will eventually happen on its own.

300 hp on an all motor V6, why even bother? You can put that money toward a V8 and be that much faster

bro my budget was 1000 for 11's with out the motor cost factured in, I spent 980 on cam, heads(that would still need machine work)intake and a distributor. that was soposed to be a budget build with a budget head, i spent 400 on a carb and fuel pump, and i got free valve covers(thanks again baddest434!) its going to cost me another 300 for a used 700r4 thats going to blow up and a 3000 stall, and ill still be wasting my rebuilt 700r4.

ur not gonna land a 13 second slip, or lift a wheel on $800 i suggest you save, if you MUST have a v6 get a turbo buick, if not just get a damn lt1 or ls1..

i beleive it was in this thread, but why wont a 16'' rear rim be as good as a 15''?

because you have less sidewall for the same size tire....less sidewall = less grip

3200 stall and 3.42s at that time.... there havent been any passes on the 4.10 / 4200 combo IIRC

the last time jimmy was to teh track was with the gears and big stall. it paid huge dividends right away too, putting his short times in the low 1.7's and gtting him into the low 13.7's with a trap sped of barely 100mph.
i am sure there is actually more to be found in jim's combination, but he has never taken the time to tune the shocks or play with spring rates.

I think his best 60' was actually a 1.77, and I am also pretty sure he never hit a 100mph trap speed N/A...
