Man, the forecast for next week and President's day is looking like snow, snow and more snow! This coming Monday into Tuesday could get ugly, then next Friday looks like serious snow potential and around President's day could be the biggest one of the winter! So get your shovel's ready! I could be taking a few days off from work especially if I can't even get out of the driveway! Good thing the fidget didn't see his shadow!
im ready for it. id like to actually use my 4wd once this year.
Plus itll give more of a reason to stay in my garage and finish my SS.
I was actually in there getting a lot done on it tonight, with a temp of 72 degrees in there, i get pretty motivated. propane heater FTW.

i just scored a couple of used dunlop all season tires, for free, to throw on the stock 10 holes...maybe ill get to use them for snow. and the reason i got them free is cause some guy with a BMW or something wanted better tires so they removed these and put on whatever other ones....these things still have the little rubber nubby things around the edges

They're still showing some good possibilities for a big storm Tues/Wed. The good news is that it will be pretty d@m cold so it should be a powdery snow and not heavy wet crap. Their talking about strong chances it will turn into a blizzard. I don't care about 6-10" of snow but I don't feel like dealing with 15-20+. I just hope it actually stays further south and out to sea and we get a dusting like we have every time so far this winter.

They're now saying 12-18" for most of NJ except along the coast. Some areas could be up to 24" of snow. :willy: Get some fresh gas and sparkplug for your snowblower!

yes, i talked to some of my family today. amazing how localized the lake effect snow can get sometimes. everyone seems to be dealing withit ok though. streets get cleared every afternoon, no snow/cold related deaths or serious accidents reported.
it is funny watching on tv as a guy shovels off his second story roof and the snow only falls about 6ft before hitting the "ground" lol
the only bad part i am waiting for is when all this melts. one of my cousins operates a dairy farm in the chenango river basin. last years flooding put water with in a few feet of the house and there was going to be half the snow melt off that there is this year.

Hopefully they will do what NYC does, start putting it in trucks and dump it in the lake (or river in their case). Probably some eco-standard that prevents dirty snow from being put into the lake it is just going to melt and run into anyway, I'm sure.

thats sort of the problem. 75% of the water from the north western ny basin ends up going down the three rivers in chenango county, one of which(the chenango river itself) cuts through my cousins property.
the water got so high last year that his fields were completely submerged and the water covered the several hundred yards between the chenagno creek and his house.
hopefully the slightly illegal improvements he made to the run off and spillway areas around the farm will work :)

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN TUESDAY EVENING IN THE CONNECTICUT VALLEY AND SPREAD TO THE EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS COAST AROUND MIDNIGHT...AND SHOULD QUICKLY BECOME HEAVY BY DAYBREAK WEDNESDAY...WHICH WILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE. IN FACT...SNOW MAY BE FALLING AT 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
HOWEVER...WARMER MID LEVEL AIR MOVING INTO THE REGION WILL CAUSE THE SNOW TO CHANGE TO SLEET GENERALLY ALONG AND SOUTHEAST OF A MANCHESTER NEW HAMPSHIRE TO AN ORANGE MASSACHUSETTS LINE BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE PRECIPITATION MAY CHANGE TO PLAIN RAIN FOR A TIME ON THE IMMEDIATE EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS COAST.
COLDER AIR AT THE SURFACE WILL MOVE BACK INTO THE REGION LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING AS WINDS TURN NORTH. THIS WILL CAUSE ANY AREAS THAT CHANGE TO RAIN ALONG THE COAST...TO CHANGE TO SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN. THIS INCLUDES THE BOSTON METROPOLITAN AREA...WHERE THERE MAY BE A FLASH FREEZE AS TEMPERATURES DROP QUICKLY BELOW FREEZING. THE SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN MAY CHANGE BACK TO ALL SNOW WEDNESDAY NIGHT BEFORE ALL THE PRECIPITATION ENDS. THERE MAY BE SOME ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE SYSTEM.
TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ARE PROJECTED TO BE HIGHEST ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES AND MONADNOCKS...WHERE AS MUCH AS 8 TO 15 INCHES OF SNOW COULD FALL. TOTALS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST MASSACHUSETTS...WITH 4 TO 7 INCHES OF SNOW ACROSS NORTHERN CONNECTICUT...NORTHWEST RHODE ISLAND AND THE BOSTON METRO AREA BEFORE ANY CHANGE OVER. THERE MAY ALSO BE SOME ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE SYSTEM WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
IN ADDITION...THERE MAY ALSO BE A PERIOD OF STRONG WINDS ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE SYSTEM WEDNESDAY EVENING.
ugh...
we aint getting anything worthwhile...dont sweat it

02-13-2007, 09:45 AM
Meh, the only problem we are going to have is when it changes over to rain later on this evening and through the overnight. The cold air is supposed to rush back down behind the upper level low tomorrow morning and afternoon, which will make the roads icy, and possibly may bring another inch or so of snow before it ends. The good thing is that I work unless the local schools are closed. If that happens.. maybe I can get some pictures getting a school bus sideways. Safe travels.
