The political correctness continues to reach new lows. Just read...

General Motors relented Friday and agreed to re-edit a Super Bowl ad that offended suicide prevention groups.

The ad, which tells the story of an assembly line robot that dreams of getting fired after dropping a screw, and then jumps off a bridge because it can't stand the thought of not working in a GM plant, drew the ire of the special-interest groups right after the game. As recently as Thursday, GM said it would not re-edit the ad, which is part of the automaker's campaign to promote GM quality.

But by Friday, GM executives re-thought the decision. TV networks were running to thries about the controversy, not GM quality. Fox News, for one, was referring to the ad simply as "GM's suicide ad." That, plus advice from outside the company, convinced GM head of sales and marketing chief Mark LaNeve that the ad needed to be re-edited.

I thought the add was pretty cool...........leave it to the whiny tree huggers and liberals to get offended and start crying. It never fails. All this country needs is one big bowel (sp?) movement to get rid of the stink!!!!

Meh, thats nothing. I didnt understand why a robot wanted to kill itself in the first place, but I understood the point that GM was making...hope after everything that went down, so did everyone else.

Nothing tops "A Boys Dream" from 2 years ago, the Corvette ad where a kid was driving upside down in large sewer mains, which turns out was a dream a boy was having while looking at a new C6. They said that it could give kids the wrong idea about driving cars or some s***.
They all arent tree hugging liberals btw...most are ultra-uptight right wing conservitives who shield there children from all fun.

I agree. I don't blame the right or the left.

I blame the dumb s*** lawyers, judges, and juries that allow legal battles to happen over this.

whats sad is that this country is based freedom of speech. i dont understand how the country that preaches freedom of speech has the most lawsuits for offending people. its quite ironic actually

and btw- that robot commercial was by far the best commercial during the game

because you have the right to free speech as long as it doesn't impede on anyone else's rights...

There was an ad years ago for the then new Twin Turbo 300Z, in which the Z was being chased by fighter planes, motorcycles, etc, and it out ran them all. Def a cool ad, but guess what? Some azz clown watch dog group complained that it could cause unsafe driving, so it was dropped. WTF???

bubba, be careful what you say about suicide...nothing wrong with your own opinion, but we dont want to offend people.

i thought the ad was highly amusing...my friends and i had a good laugh from it.

people need to stop worry about BS like this, screw censorship, and focus on important stuff...like getting our troops out of iraq...but apparently thats non-important and advertising and corruption is... *scratches head*

i will never quite understand this country and our politics...to Canada... AWAY!

Statements like that are the exact reason that the PC crowd is totally out of control............and maybe someday, if all of your current freedoms have been taken away or abolished, you will then understand this country and its politics. Hopefully, it won't be too late. Take a stand on something, just don't "go with the flo".
