You cook it in a springform pan, not a pie pan. It's a cake IMO... though technically it's considered to be a baked custard.

well in that case so in pumpkin pie...it just sits in a pie crust...but u can make a cheesecake in a pie crust...ive seen pumpkin pie with the same crust as cheesecake but it was still a pie...soo is it pumpkincake now
