i have to say for the most part i agree with them.... main reason being because we still have the basement to screw around with and the money they make from joining the basement is just going right back into the club so i really dont have a problem paying

Im for the changes, I wouldnt have a problem paying for the basement except

1. I dont have any money, except for what I save up for car parts.

and

2. Even If I did pay I wouldnt be allowed in it anyway.

Where is the "who cares" option. I think too many people are making too big a deal about it. They aren't asking for your blood, they just want people to act more mature.

Exactly. But it appears there are a lot of immature people who can't converse without cursing, arguing or flaming other people for no reason. Almost every car board on the web has even stricter rules than what they have put in place here. You can't go through life acting like an @ss forever. The new rules put this board more in line with all the others out there.

I agree ,alot of boards are more strict we actually have alot of freedom here.Other boards have a problem with people cursing but they also have a problem with people using terms like "ricer" which seems kind of ridiculous.

The degree to which someone disagrees with the rules is indirectly proportional to the age of the disagreer.

Im all for these new rules...some people are taking it way out of hand, and its the same people that have been spoken to about the way they act on the boards. Joking around with someone you know is one thing, maliciously acting towards other members is another.

and that is an important dividing line that is very very difficult to try to moderate.
with so many memebers from so many differnet areas, there is no way anyone can be expected to know exactly who is freinds with who and what jokes can be taken as offensive or out of context.
that is why, when the rules are enforced, we make every effort to be consistant. trying to change our moderation based on who is or isn't friends with whom would jsut lead to drama and more finger pointing.

the new rules, and growth as a reason behind them are fine. but many people have their underpants in WAY too big a twist over this no matter which side your on. whos to say a stupid pollitical or bench racing conversation dosent offend me as much as cursing offends you? yet they stay and language goes to a kindergarden level. the language used here is no different than the language used in american culture EVERY DAY and i challenge everyone that says that there should be no profanity to this bet...

every time you curse at a meet or in some real life club event, give tim and justin 5 bucks. they would make some real money there (much of it out of their own pockets)...

and a big thing is people being worried about "not safe for work" or "not safe for school" material.....well maybe you should be doing your job, or your classwork instead of surfing a car forum....

It's not about being safe for work, school or home. It's about attracting new members and possible sponsors. Nobody is going to join or support the club when it's nothing but a bunch of kids cursing at each other. It's already been stated that some potential sponsors have stopped by to visit and had no interest because of what was going on. And no matter what any of us really thinks, it's Tim and Justin's site to determine how they want to run it. If you guys need to curse and make fun of each other so much then start a new board dedicated to cursing and attacking each other. It's not really that hard to act like an adult, heck if Jimmy can do it than anyody can! :)

sorry jeff but i managed to post without using the phrase "you guys" so ill take that as a direct attack and ask that the post deleted and thread locked. THAT is where the rules get excessive. and like i said in the part you DIDNT quote, the rules and the reasons behind them are fine with me.

and a big thing is people being worried about "not safe for work" or "not safe for school" material.....well maybe you should be doing your job, or your classwork instead of surfing a car forum....Your point makes sense, but using NWS as a 'standard' is more about keeping it clean vs. actual work surfing (discounting my lunchtime and waiting-for-systems time antics :p ). A lot of jobs you can't walk around cursing all day - you would be fired. So there is some rough standard there.

I think its great that the club is moving and growing at a good pace, and even though I will *hopefully* soon no longer own an Fbody I plan on still contributing and supporting as best as I can. Some others may not think the same way, more of it as a playground for after school/work that they can share something with people with similar interests. That is what this place (In my opinion) is for. Well, its like anything else if it cant be kept appropriate, or things are taken too far, then this is going to get ugly. It sucks that alot of this is all caused over a relative few number of people. We have a few mid-teenagers who act more adult than some of the 20 year old+ members. I am in no way saying Ive never been one to curse, or whatever on here, however theres a certain line that gets crossed. Now it does not bother me when I see these things, or words...because its only part of my every day life, but I also wonder who else is on here lurking, or even members with kids. I sure as hell know I wouldnt want a child of mine reading that stuff when I didnt click the "X" at the top of the screen. Granted it probably wouldnt be words they didnt hear come from me, but still. I agree with whats going on, and I would hate to see this place get really censored because a few people just dont know how to act.

Nobody is going to join or support the club when it's nothing but a bunch of kids cursing at each other.

With 32k+ members and 2,596,862 posts as of 10:12am and sponsors such as Titan Motorsports, WOTM, MVP, Powerhouse Racing, S.P. and some others i think you're wrong. God knows Supra Forums has more sponsors then that. And I know no one os gonna register there and actually take a look at their website and how its ran, but if you did you'd see a rediculous off topic section where "kids" can curse and the only thing that is not allowed if racial slur. However the rest of the website is pretty strick i've seen people get ban for hi-jacking a thread (not common but possible). Now i ask you a question which site is more successful?

And before someone tells me to go back to USSR or leave the web site and join SF, its too late i already did. I've been a member since 04.

Now i ask you a question which site is more successful?

now i ask you, where is their audience and what is their marketing appeal to these companies?
you can offer up examples of national site pulling in tons of cash all day long and it still won't apply to our situation.
we are a small regional club, without much of a shot at ever getting to the 30K+ member mark. with that market limited membership appeal the risk of little issues being enough to drive away a significant percentage of members and potential sponsors are much higher.
if in your travels you ever come across a small club site with the war zone rules that you love so much, please feel free to le tme know about it. everyone i have ever heard of that stayed wide open failed.
i enjoy all the friends i have made and all the times we all get to hang out way too much to let small issues risk what we have here. that is why we are making changes to sure up the club's social responsibility to it's members and the financial issues now, before they get out of control and destroy the club.
