Just curious. Not having any issues at the moment. Also, mine's an auto.

I wouldn't think you would run into problems with a steel one. They are just heavy.

I know they are heavier than the aluminum shafts. What about the width of the 1LE (I heard these are no longer available) vs the LS1 driveshaft vs the stock steel shaft.
Any advantage in replacing the steel with either 1LE or LS1? Thanks!

The advantage is less rotating weight on the drivetrain.... and to add 2 cool points to yourself ...
3rd gen aluminum driveshafts are thinner then ls1 aluminum drive shafts. Heres two pics to compare .... third gen 1LE on the right. LS1 driveshaft on the left, and the LS1 shafts aren't made by gm by the way.

The problem with the stock steel DS is that allot of then weren't balanced very well, and there doesn't seem to be any pattern as far as year or trans. Most notice the problem when you start to get near 100MPH.
The alum. DS does not have this problem, but the alum is not as strong and if you run a manual trans with sticky tires you can brake them, or more correctly twist them. This normally happens up near the trans. It's not real common, but it does happen.

Thanks, I think I'll stick with the stock steel shaft as I think I am the lucky few to have one that is decently balanced. I feel no vibration at any speed (yes I've had it at 100+ before).
