Yeah, it's gonna be pretty sweet. First brand new car I've ever placed an order for. I'm getting it in Sunburst Orange. They had a red '06 on their lot, but my last 3 cars have been red, so I thought I'd go with something different.

Congrats John! I bet that color will look pretty good on the Cobalt, just like your dads Goat. Can't wait to see it!

Nothing right away, but eventually I'll do some things to it to get the hp up a bit. Is there a stage 3 now? I've only seen up to stage 2 which is 241hp. I was surprised with how much aftermarket performance goodies GM offers for the car.

Thanks Alex. Yeah, that's one of the main reasons I chose the color. It's pretty close to the GTO and it looks sooo good, I know I couldn't go wrong with it.

GM offers a book to help you build a motor like the ones they run in Import Pro Stock.

nice car! stage 3 or ban!

Just found some info on the Stage 3. Says it uses a different PCM and eliminates your A/C... not exactly what I'm looking for in an every day car, lol. But the Stage 2 sounds like a pretty good deal.

Sweet choice for a DD man! I'm sure people have, but I just don't know, how fast can you make those things? Can you make them equivilant to the Neon SRT 4?

Thanks! And yes, with the stage kits you can make them faster than a stock SRT-4. I think with stage 3 you can get up to 260 hp. But SRTs have stage kits as well and start with out with more bhp, so Mopar kits might go higher.

the eco's 5-speed wont handle much more than ~300whp for very long whereas the srt4 tranny is a much stouter piece...trans seems to be the biggest bottleneck on the new ecos

a stage 3 SRT-4 will be a lot faster than the cobalt...

talking about the mopar performance stage 3 kit -

"The Stage 3 Kit with Turbo Toys in high-octane mode increases power to an amazing 355 hp at 5200 rpm and 365 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3200–4800 rpm"

Guess we will just have to wait for that turbo2.0 and 6spd manual to make its way into the Cobalt.

im wondering again if gm is all about saving money, why is the cobalt supercharged and the sky turboed?

2 different platforms with 2 different customer bases and 2 different end objectives.

For some reason Chevrolet seems to be really gunshy on the turbo motors compared to the rest of the GM brands. But I've heard some Cobalts converted from supercharged to turbo are making over 300 whp already. 4 cyl engines need turbos, not superchargers. I hope Chevy comes out with a turbo setup in the Cobalt. Not that I'm looking for a new car any time soon.

I know with a super you don't get the lag the turbo produces, and they tend to be more reliable. But what I was mainly looking for something that would get decent gas mileage and have enough getup and go. I was surprised to find out that they're not offering the Recaro seats in the '07s anymore. But that's probably a good thing, seeing it would have an been extra $1500.

I'm sure that the turbo motor from the solstice/sky will make it's way over in time.
