No, not the Toyota type, the small block chevy type.
Anyone who reads Car Craft instead of just looking at the pictures will find in the front, a little article talking about how Dart is currently drawing up plans for a hyrbid Small Block Gen I/Gen III-IV block. It would look like a Gen I block, but you will use Gen III-IV heads, cam and rotating assem. It will be drilled for a traditional distributor. The pricing they said will be like a traditional Iron Eagle block.
They also are building a 6.0 LQ4 engine with L92 heads, and got 550hp out of it for under 5 grand.

Well...sorta, but no. carbed LS2 is still a Gen IV engine, this hybrid will be a Gen I block, what GM has used since 1955 to 1992, your traditional 265/283/302/327/350 engine. It will look like that, but use Gen III-IV stuff like the LS2's crank pistons and rods, the brand new high flowing L92 cylinder heads, LS7 intake, things like that. It will also be set up for fuel injection and carb.

So it's basically an LSx motor that can be bolted in place of any Gen I/II sbc without the need for fancy mounts or anything else?
Sounds like a good idea.

Hrm...I gotta reread it, but they said that it will have provisions for both the Gen III head bolts and Gen I head bolts. It will also have reverse cooling like an LT1/4 set up.
They do not have a prototype set up yet, its mearly just drawing and such. They are stuck on the lifters, but they said that since the deck hight is higher then a standard sbc to be able to use Gen III intakes and the sort, that the cam is higher up, having the ability to go to larger strokes.
