Does anyone know which of the auto shops PEP BOYS, STRAUSS AUTO, AUTOZONE, etc. if they offer a free scan. My fiance's car had a service engine light, I thought it was the low coolant because the light went off when I put some in, then it came back on.

I just want to make sure it's nothing serious.

I know james and boon have scanner's but between my schedule and theirs it's hard to meet up, plus I have to have her car. I'm switching with her tomorrow so I can get it looked at.

thanks

autozone will scan it for free, but the wont clear the code unless you know people there (i.e. you have connections)

i dont know, i went to three different places and each guy had a different excuse for not wanting to do it... one the guy said he was short staffed... there were 4 people working and 2 customers... another said it was "broke"... then i was like can i just buy a scanner because at this rate im never going to figure anything out... and of course OBDI Scanners are like 3-400$...

Sears, and neg on OBDI, but I do have a lap top with an ALDL scanner software.

Why dont you just ground it and count the flashes?
