i would like to take the time to note some faulty designs brought to you by our competitors overseas...

first of all, my sisters lexus has a huge c-pillar that looks retarded and almost caused an accident cause i couldn't see pulling out the driveway

acuras new RDX, a ugly little SUV with a turbo. i cant wait to plow into the rear of one of these doing 10mph and my saturn surviving and putting $10k damage due to a broken rear hatch, observe:

Try to jump start an Acura TL Type-S for grins. I tried to do it and had a hell of a time trying to find a place to attach the black wire (to ground). There are a ton of plastic covers and other assorted doo-dads that make it a royal PITA to do (in my case in the dark).

i think i figured that cupholder out. its not supposed to be used unless you park the car and eat, say after going through a drive through with a buddy. otherwise, it seems to make a good cell phone holder. thats the only explanation for it. otherwise, it must be for decoration

i dunno, i just feel like some posts are useless and just give these forums a bad look. am i the only person that would like to see some of the useless posts removed? think about it :jake:

now back on topic please

i have another one. i just saw a newer honda accord with it's lights off. the dash lights are on all the time so you forget sometimes that you don't have your lights on. i know this because my girlfriend has that car and when i drove her car i went a few blocks before realizing it wasnt automatic and that the lights were off. not so much a faulty design, but just an annoying feature.

Me neither. I usually refer to my cupholder as "The Passenger"

I don't like the unshielded coolant lines in Honda Pilots that run to the rear heater core.
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/5430/img0165aoo6.th.jpg (http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0165aoo6.jpg)

I also don't like the radio (crappy display, no midrange control, no track time info, no speed adjust volume), the gas door release switch where I can't fit my hand, the nooks in the console that are impossible to get to to clean, the occassionaly squeaky roof mounted video screen, the 3rd row seat belt that doesn't stow right, the rear door that doesn't open high enough for a 6' person to stand under, the crappy goodyears they put on it (when honda cared about quality, they only used michelins),....

i always see people in honduhs with the lights off and when you give them a dirty look u can see there face is lit up from the dash, dont they notice its a little dark out??

pacifica's are the same way

as is my mom's audi now that i think about it... but only her dash lights come on. you eventually realize the rest of the interior (i.e. the radio and hvac) isn't lit up

my car is too ghetto for cup holders...i just wedge them between the e-brake handle and the passengers seat...usually works

i wouldn't really say that the Lexus has faulty design!!! the "faultiness" if i can say that is in the person who bought it! my reasoning is look at most ford econoline vans they don't have side windows at all and nobody complains about them! basicly its jsut soemthign you shoudl notice when you look at the car before buying it and say this is a big peice of crap mayby i should buy soemthing else.

yeah that started with the Lexus in the early 90's. Electroluminescence dash gauges. I'll say that it makes things a lot easier to read in the daytime...but I find a good amount of drivers turn the dimmer all the way up..so their face gets all lit up at night. They don't realize that they will have much better view if they turn the brightness down.

same reason why our saab has the night panel switch that turns off all the dash lights except part of the speedo and any warning lights that pop up

That's awesome. I pretty much always have my dash lights turned down low.

Ever try to jump start an X5? You need so much to get it to crank. The automatic HID's on with ignition don't help either.

and referring to jake's sister's car..just hope you never have to replace the bulbs in the taillights, those are fun :-D

EDIT: Yes, I know the X5 isn't japanese  but it happens all the time at work and it's a pain in the ass.
