Hey guys im thinking about going a different route with my 350, its a 2 bolt main and right now its bored .30. I am thinking about stroking her out, doing a nice set of heads and cam, and maybe a small shot of nitrous oxide. This car will be seeing track action and it will be seeing car shows/cruises. Gas milage really isnt that big of a deal, if i could get down to wildwood on one tank id be happy. I have a 700r4 with a 3800 stall. My rear will be a moser 12 bolt built to a factory thirdgen rear length with 3.73 or 4.10 gears in her. I have hooker long tube headers, mufflex ory, and a 3 inch flowmaster catback. I will be going carb with this motor and i would like to run a demon carb. I also have a electric water pump to keep her cool and i will be buying a aluminum rad with dual fans and a seperate tranny cooler to keep the 700r4 happy. I also have a msd pro billet dizzy that i will be using. I am hoping to break 500hp without the nitrous and i will be happy. Thanks and let me know what you guys can do to help me out with info on what parts you would reccomend and what good shops are in south jersey that would be able to assemble the motor for me. Thanks in advance.

I'm from vineland, and the trip to langhorne area in PA is well worth it.
Josh at JS Performance will do a great job with it if you are interested.

2 bolt main...500 hp....thats kinda risky. from what I've heard, 2 bolt blocks can handle about 500 hp , but thats about it. If I were in your position, I'd convert the block to splayed 4 bolt mains. splayed 4 bolt main caps are stonger than production 4 bolt maincaps anyway, so you'd be ahead of the game.

Josh's number is 215-783-4645

and he will probably also recommend the 4 bolt conversion with the splayed caps.

before spending any money on installing anything the first thing you do - have the block sonic tested - sonic testing is a probe connected to a thickness meter - that is slid around and up and down in a cylinder bore to test if their are any thin spots - that will end any hopes of the motor living at twice its original HP rating - its the first thing we do with any high HP adds to a block - and of coarse boring it .030 or .060 does not help -- minimal thickness is around .200 stock moms wagon motor - 4 bolts are in some cases thicker but core shift is at play - the way to do it is give it to a competent shop to check if they say its NG dont use it get another one -- jz

Thanks John, ill take it to a local shop and have it checked out, it i get an ok for the block to be used i will let you know and i will have you build the motor for me in late summer/fall. I would just need an estimate to gather up the bones for you.

thanks again
