is off to a very rough start.

first thing, the car looks great, RAM Graffics did a great job on the body.

the car was flying at the begining of practice. laying down laps with some of the fastest guys from last year.
that only lasted about 6 laps or so when the motor let go. something internal, nothing came through the block or anything. just smoke out the exhaust and the deadly !oil pressure mod.
the engine was out of the car yesterday afternoon and back down at the builders shop this morning. hopefully it isn't too big a deal and he can get it back together before the weekend.
if not, back to the decades old motor we used last year. :(
at least we know the new chassis works good. hopefully this is our bad luck and i can make happier post race threads the rest of the year :)

As Tim said, a rough start...

Looked into it a little more and found some piston fragments on cylinder #6 and a broken spark plug electrode on #4...motor went down the builders shop first thing sunday morning...i'm hoping it was some sort of parts faliure and not due to a lean condition...jetting and power valve were actually on the fat side so i'm leaning towards the fact that we did not lean the motor out, i.e. this isn't my fault lol...hopefully it can be taken care of and back in the car this week...otherwise our base-line set-up was dead on, 7 laps of racing and the car was already better than it was throughout the whole last season...third fast out of 40 somethin cars...gotta thank NJSPEEDER for haulin aS$ home with me and gettin the motor yanked...i guess we're in for late nights this week

Give me a shout when it comes time to thrash things back together. I have a busy week, but I might be able to find a few hours to turn some wrenches....

i wasn't driving that fast on the way home. hehe
just because i made it from exit 14 on 295 to your house on the north end of ewing in 50mins including a 7-11 stop doesn't mean i was driving fast. lol
it was weird to realize that i got in my car to leave the track at 12:55 and we had the motor out and i was home by 4:15. lol

#6 pistons has a whole in it about the size of a 50 cent piece...all the other pistons are also "hot"...this was due to fuel starvation...fuel pressure never dropped but supposedly if there is an "air pocket" in the fuel system it will still show pressure...looks like 8 pistons, rings and a hone and we'll be back in business...in the mean time i'm putting my old low compression vortech headed motor back together and trying to hunt down some kind of issue between the fuel cell and carb...anyone have any good items for finding some sort of vacuum leak in my lines?...i'd like to find a bad line or fitting somewhere, if not this is all still a mystery and could potentially face the same issues with the back up motor...:-?
