its a torsen diff with stock 342 gears i have the aluminum support cover on it. this sob whines LOOUD around 45-50mph, to the point where i have to crank the radio up or open my cutout to drown it out. after 50 mph its not too bad. why does it whine so loudly? is it the support cover thats causing it? i havent even been to the track with it. raced on the street one time, but it was whining before that. I did notice, however, at 160mph it doesnt whine

Could be a few things, gears are not set right or the Diff is getting ready to go BOOM.
What ever it is, the only way to find out is to open it up and look.
My new set-up is perfect (for now) the cover has nothing to do with noise

the ring and pinion looked good when i took the broken 10bolt out to put the other 10bolt in and there was no noise coming from the rear (clunks, grinding) i do have an adj tq arm and it was set at 0* pinion angle. josh (86formula) said to maybe adjust that a lil bit. i know i could do like -1 or -2 * angle on it.

Does this happen under power or coasting?
Too much backlash in the gears, maybe.
