I was looking around at rotating assemblies for my LT-1, and i found a peice you can buy through Summit, Jegs, Pace etc, that converts your one piece rear seal motor, to a gen one 2 piece rear seal. Has anybody here tried it?
The reason i ask is, gen 1 rotating assemblies are more readily available, and cheaper, the part to convert it costs around 100.00.

I have used them but I dont like them, its just another place for oil leaks.

Isnt it jt just a housing that bolts on the back of the motor, and takes the place of the one piece housing? Although i could see where a one piece seal is better than a 2, when it comes to lealks. Especially when using synthetic.

i agree with josh. 1 piece seals are just less to keep an eye on, especially when dealing with a conversion that the block may or may not decide to like after it is heat cycled a few times.
for the $40-70 difference in most of the bottom end kits, it really isn't worth the hassle or worry.

Why would you want to go 2 piece? Stick with the one piece seal and save alot of headaches

Given the abundance of 2 piece seal rotating assemblies ,it would appear that going to this conversion would make sense, but when you take into account the 100 dollars the piece costs, and the cost of a different flywheel, you really arent saving money, unless you get that Gen 1 rotating assembly dirt cheap, and i think we all know what happens when you buy something dirt cheap!
