I am debating on starting my own"business". My brother runs a roofing compnany and says there is good money to be made in power/pressurewashind for commercial and residential properties. I have the money for start -up/ supplies. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing. I'm thinking about doing business cards and possibly flyers. Maybe an ad in the courierpost. Now i'm stuck with the pricing side of it and getting myname out there. I would appreciate any input or ideas.

easiest way to find out pricing is to find any companies in the area with advertised prices. just do a quick check through the paper and online for pricing scales in your area.

Any advice for a new business starting out??? This will be my first "adventure". I'm a little concerned, but i guess the only way to know, is to try.

Make sure to get the word spread around about your business... start with friends/family and word of mouth should do you well, plus public ads can't hurt. Word of mouth doesn't cost you anything though.

its probably gonna start out slow, so be sure to have another source of income if you think you'll be hard up. business cards and fliers dont really cost that much, you can get 1000 cards made up for under 50 bucks, fliers in b/w will be cheap as well. see if you can get hooked up with another related but different business (like your brothers) and pick up some of their customers for yourself.

He also wrote a great deal of other books that are relevant to new business owners. It is great to hear that you are stepping out.
Good luck with your new business.
PM me if you need any other info.
