well, we currently have no results for the weekend thanks to a little contoversy.
evening started out pretty normal as far as racing is concerned. URC sprint cars were there, first practice someone decides to get the excitement out of the way early and puts one into the parking lot via the turn one wall . he was ok, drilled a lightpole on the way out, car is beyond toasted.
randy was in the second heat, started outside pole. track was very bitey which means great conditions for the guys with the good bullets under the hood, so randy took the 5hp briggs and did his best. ended up 4th, good enough to transfer to the feature.
they held a redraw to pick the starting spots for the feature since they don't have enough weeks in to start the handicapping yet. 11 spots to pick and randy did his usual and picked to worst spot available. lol
looking at an 11th starting spot and a track that was very smooth and starting to take rubber, we made the decision to go with hard compound tires at the very last second while the weather was holding. at the start it was a bit tough, takes a little longer for heat to build in the hards and randy has never driven on them before so he had to feel them out. lost a few spots in the first 5 or 6 laps, then the tires came in and it was a completely different story.
ran down a few guys in front of him and the lead pack to get back to 9th. this is the point that the evening got weird.
around lap 7 it started to rain, not hard but steady. it was enough to start laying water on teh surface and make it hard to see. lap 10 it is now completely slick and someone spins as a result. they threw the caution and all of a sudden it started to f'ing pour.
the track officials then had them line back up so they coudl THROW THE GREEN AGAIN!!?!?!?!?!?!? :moon:
they made it a half a lap before the Mc10 spun to the right from 4th place and somehow managed to miss everybody and everything.
they gave up after a few more mins of driving around under caution and threw the checkered flag. a bunch of the drivers are pissed because the track wanted todeclare the race official even though they did not technically complete more than half the race under green. everyone goes to the pit shack and complains, the resulting decision is that the race will be completed starting at lap 10 next week.
this is good and bad. there are a bunch of guys that will be in front of randy that he is normally much faster than, so there is a good chance he can get around them. the bad is that the 'brilliant' call to run the hards won't be available to us to outsmart anyone next week and that the make-up will be run early in the evening when the track is normally in a condition to benfit cars with strong motors which will still not be fixed and back in the car. :|

car was on rails all night and randy set second fastest lap of the feature once the hards started coming in. if the race had been able to stay green tonight, definately woudl have been another top 5 finish.
