I really hate this storm. I was on my way home in my c5 and i hit what appears to be a puddle. No time for me to react, i think i hydrolocked the engine. Police called a wrecker which showed 2 hours later( wrecks left and right on 295, i actually passed a green bronco that flipped over). Now the water is rising. Creek is overflowing. 4 1/2 hours after the initial accident they fish my car out of the water. I called my insurance company and they said they'll get to me when they can. I'm a low prioirity case right now with no injuries. The water flooded the interior over the center console.and over the hood and doors of the car. I'm assuming the car is totaled. I'm kicking myself in the ass now. I tried to get home before it got worse and now i ruined my baby. I keep thinking what if i had taken another route or left earlier. I'm so damn frustrated now, thanks for letting me vent. Do you guys think she can be fixed or is she toast? Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing?

:( Sucks to hear man...i feel for ya

As for repairing it im sure alot of the wiring is toast, plus you'll go through hell trying to get the smell out of the car. Then there's the problem with mold and mildew...if they offer to total it and give you a reasonable amount of $$ I'd take it and run.

Oh man, that sucks bigtime. :( :( I drove my Vette today too, but thank god there were just big puddles and not like what you hit. I just got home. Flood damage is iffy when it comes to totalling it. If they give you the chance to buy a new one I would do it. You never know exactly what fried and what didn't, then you throw in the motor hydrolocking and numbers skyrocket. I hope everything gets worked out quickly.

Sorry to hear man, but I would take the money and run if they offer it to you. Unless the car has some huge sentimental value to you, it's not worth what you'll prolly have to go through to get her running again.

:stupid:
If just the engine sucked in water, I would fix it but with water all the way up to the center console its not worth fixing just take the money and buy another one...

I am so sorry to hear about your car man

I am not sure if the vehicle will be totalled or not but there will more than likely be a lot of problems with the electronics down the road due to corrosion issues and wiring shorts.

yeah sorry to hear about your car but i would agree with the above posts: if offered money for it take the money and go get another one. no telling what is damaged. water damage is a very nasty thing and can become very costly.

i dont know how ur insurance company would like this, but if possible, once u have the car home and all, pull the seats, carpeting, and then remove the seat covers off the seats and remove the foam. also pop the door panels off. then let everythign dry. itll help from letting mold and mildew begin.
many insurance companies let you buy back the car for around 10% or so of what they pay, sometime you buy it directly from a tow yard if thats where it is. title issues may also come up if insurance makes you surrender it and transfer it to a salvage, but a salvage title isnt all that bad. i went through the process with a motorcycle and its simple.
