I didn't see the game but kept checking the score on line. I got pissed when i saw TB tie it up and thought oh great another strong season finish and 1st round choke. Then I woke up today and saw the good news. WOO HOOO... Home Ice Advantage better help them out.

Awesome game last night. I was actually tired after being ticked off at throwing away a 2 goal lead. NJ is squeaking by in this series which doesn't bode well for them. Brodeur should be better than he is, and the defense needs to step up and help him out more.
They need Scott Steven's leadership back there. He was a guy who whipped all three defensive lines into shape in the post season.

Madden and Langenbrunner are the two who have any kind of presence back there (not playability, Im talking leadership). Elias is the Captain, but I don't hear anything about his locker room talks, nor do I see him pulling players aside on the bench and chatting with them. Stevens had no compunction about pulling guys aside and talking with them, on and off the ice.
They are all good players, but it seems like they are having a hard time pulling it together. If they cant get to the point where they each anticipate where the others are going to be (which comes from a team thats played together for more than a season) then Lou better work on more set plays - thats where the fast scoring comes from. Using set plays, the players at least know where they need to be and rely a -little- less on their comfort and experience with each other. Obviously we'd like to have both.
I hope home ice is good to them.

seems like the best pair on offense are zajac and parise...but with the devils first line scoring 2 goals last night (gionta and gomez) maybe thatll inspire them to pick it up a little

i think you have to have fans show up to the games if the home team hopes to get an advantage

a team's performance is solely based on the crowd that comes to see them

what's worse is when it's vs. the Rangers and there are more fans there for the away team then the home team. :(

Next year will be worse. The ticket prices for downstairs seats are expected to be around $120 according to the newspaper that did a column on the new arena. Once you add everything up, for a family of 4 to go to a game, you are spending over $500 for tickets, parking, food, tolls, and anything junior wants to buy at the trinket counter.
Hockey doesn't have the fan base that baseball and football have. The price for tickets is rediculous. And on top of all that, we as tax payers still have to pay off this new arena over the next umpteen million years.
The number of seats sold during the regular season will drop off quite dramatically, despite the new arena opening. The novelty will wear off quickly in light of the cost.

you couldn't be more right untamed. and until we stop buying these tickets and paying these guys obscene salaries there is nothing that can be done about it.

at least hockey has the salary cap so there is some motivation for a lower payroll to exist.
brodeur personally doesn't take as much as other goalies are getting so the team can get other players
too bad his behavior is basically one of a kind
