is installing one of these things a pain in the ass? is it something that can be done in ur drive way? I was able to install my rear shocks in my garage, and i have clearance when i back my car up on ramps to get to where it bolts to the trans tail shaft, but doesn't the rear have to be unloaded when you take it off?

Also, what else has to come off to install it; the Y-Pipe, ect? Can i do it without having to take anything off?

I'm just tryin to save myself some money. I HATE having to pay someone to do somthing that i kno i can do if i just had the s*** to do it. And if 2 hours of my time can save me $100 or so it is worth it to ME.

Has anyone done this at home? If so what did u use to get the car up (jack(s), jack stands, ramps)? what was your experience like? is it worth it to do it myself?

chassis mount or tranny mount?

i did mine in the driveway, and had to take the driveshaft and ypipe out, but thats because it has a driveshaft loop

tranny mount....for now...

then you dont need to mess with the driveshaft, and MIGHT be able to get it out without pulling the ypipe

your also gonna want to install it with the suspension loaded, so i would use ramps in the front and jackstands under the rear .........

Yeah it is really easy, 3 bolts and it is out. Then you need to finagle the mount off the trans so you can drill out the rivets that hold the old rubber bushings on. All in all the prep work takes about 30 minutes, then another 30 to put it on and about an hour to get the car back together. I did mine without removing anything, but I did it on a lift. I am guessing the Y-pipe will have to be removed. If you want shoot me a PM and I'll write you a step by step, really easy.

Without a lift just take out the Y-pipe.

whats all this stuff about taking out the y pipe?? ive installed trans-mounted trq arms and chassis mount tq arms with ds loops and never had to touch the exhaust. if its a non adjustable tq arm, just put the front on ramps or jackstands and the back of the car on jackstands and put a jack under the rear, because itll be easier to pull the tq arm off and put back on, (the rear will want to point upward a lil or down, i cant remember that part. be sure to grease the ***** out of the front of the torque arm so itll slide right in that mount!

I would NOT work on a car on ramps, plenty of people have been killed by them things.

Do yourself a favor and use jackstands properly.

I have heard that you shouldn't leave your line lock on for extended periods of time, builds up too much heat in the solenoid and can cause failure.

Ive also done them with the exhaust in place, hardest thing is getting that front mount off, and i use the plastic ramps when i dont want to use the jack stands.
