the weekly update for randy's racing is all good.
the evening started with the completion of the feature that was rudely interupted by the weather last week. an 8 lap dash, randy started 10th and the exctiement started right away. it looked liek a case of too much racing and not enough thinkin. randy skated between the crowds of spinning cars, literally missing the 15J by less than a foot. came out in 5th. after the restart randy got around one more car and made 4th place his new best finish.
track dried out really fast and randy went out for his heat only to find a lot fo dust. not a very eciting race, but randy did well enough to move into the feature.
before the feature the track was looking like it was going to be much like last week when we made the right guess and looked a lot liek we knew what we were doing. unfortunately they decided to groom the track a little and we went out on soft tires with the car free'ed up a little. it was pretty much the right call and randy was pretty fast. he got stuck with a lame starting spot because of the handicapping(starting spots are inverted from points position), 13th.
randy fought with a few guys fro a while, passed a few and managed to get up to 10th. coming off of turn two randy proved he coudl avoid disaster again when the #77 that was two cars in front of him got turned around(actually completed the 360 and kept going) and randy swerved to avoid the hit. randy spent the final laps battling with the Z14 of ron roberts and managed to get around after a restart with 2 laps to go finishing in 8th.
8th isn't a glosirous finish, but on a one groove track, with a lame starting spot, and a very tired engine, we will take it.
the good news is that the good motor is back together, hitting the dyno tomorrow and should be back in the car for next week. hopefully randy can keep marching up that finishing order and collect a few wins :)
