Anybody have any experiences with the newer Pontiac grand prix's. I may be trading my Suburban for a 2000 GT. They look like nice little cars. I'll sure get better gas mileage then the Corvette. I figured i'd get a nice cruiser until i can find a 72-81 corvette that i really want or a 69 firebird. Any good or bad info? i know somebody here had tranny probs a while back.

the person who had tranny problems had a modded GTP.

I drive a '97 GTP every day, I've had it since the fall of '00. It has never really given me any problems and always has been pretty solid. Honestly, there isn't much I can say that's bad about them. The tranny is weak if you start modding, but that's about it.

I was in a 65mph crash on Rt 78 in a '98 GT and it took the hit pretty well, I walked away unscathed.

just go easy on the trans, keep up on the trans fluid/filter changes and youll be okay. the rest of the car is pretty bulletproof. i bought my GT with 110k miles, took me 30k miles of abuse to finally lose 3rd gear  gas mileage you should get around 23-24mpg if its mostly highway

The trans is the real weak spot on that car aside from the typical cheap parts that GM uses.

I may buy a spare form a junkyard and have my brother rebuild it for me then swap it in. No more vette for me man. I'm saving for a classic vette or a nice C5 Z06
