When I bought a new car in PA, the dealer took care of all that, I only paid NJ taxes.

pretty sure if you get it shipped out of state directly off of the lot you don't have to pay in state sales tax.

well im going to look at a truck tomorrow and if i like im going to buy it and drive it home tomorrow. im going to ask the sales guy about the taxes and see what he says. if i have to pay both its going to be about $3500 in taxes, which i not sure if i want to pay that.

i picked up my car from a dealer in pa, he gave me temp pa tags until my new PA title arrived no tax paid. When i had the title in hand just goto dmv you will pay the tax there while changing title and registering your car. The dealer is able to charge you nj tax etc its depends on the dealer my '06 sonata was bought in pa and because it was new they did all the taxes etc.....

hope that helps

No NY taxes, just NJ taxes. If the dealer tries to collect the sales tax from you, they should send it to the state of NJ and when you go in title and register the truck you show you already paid the taxes. Are you going to do a loan? If so, and you need to roll the taxes into the loan amount then have the dealer handle the taxes. If not, just pay for temp tags so you can drive it back to NJ and then pay the taxes in NJ when you title/register it.

Yeah, you pay where you register the car.

i bought the truck yesterday. i had to take out a loan for it. but i was only charged nj tax, which is included into the loan so they said i wouldnt have to pay the tax at the dmv.
