well, it was a long evening to say the least. the results were good though and the car got home in one piece.
the start of the evening was a bit rough. the pole sitter in the heat is notexactly known for his precision driving skills as much as his ability to make going in a straight line look very exciting. randy started towards the back because of the handicapping and ended up paying fo it before they even got through turn two where the 9jr. had spun and left randy with no place to go.
the result was a bunch of twisted up left front body work and a pin holed brake line.
a team close that was pitted near by hadthe line we needed, big thanks to the 7A Tuckahoe Turf crew. line replaced, brakes bled, good to go. then the rain came and we got to wait a while.
after the rain randy went out for the consi, 6 spots transfer to the feature and only 6 started, so it only went 4 laps to determine starting spots instead fo the usual 8. randy had the privilage of starting last because of the handicapping again, but this time he made something of it. made it up to 3rd.
because of the weather delay the schedule was compressed a lot and we only had about 15mins to turn the car around from the consi and get it ready for the feature. the car was a bit tight in the consi so the call was made to pull the poiler because it was the only fix we really had time for before the feature.
it worked ok for a while, but the extra sliding around and lack of forward bite heated up the right rear tire and the combination went away.
it took some 'aggressive' driving, but randy managed to claw his way from a 21st starting spot all the way up to 7th.
the new motor worked good all night, ate a lot fo gas which is something we will have to look into, but performed very well.
the team is defiantely heading in the right direction and the pieces are starting to fall into place nicely.
hopefully justin will have a few pics to post up of our expert body work so you can all see what a true master can creat with a hammer and a wooden blcok. lol
