Same here. But I just found out about two weeks ago when I went to the DMV that your collectors registration has be renewed every 3 months, independent of your regular registration. The first time I got collectors I took it to Ridgewood and they did the say thing and took the voucher, so I had no clue. So you need to go down to the DMV and renew it (it's 10 bucks), before you bring it back to be reinspected.

I have my voucher, because I just renewed it. The voucher is essentially your collectors registration card so to speak. Your regular registration you renew every year, but that has nothing to do with the collectors. From what I found out recently, that voucher needs to be renewed every 3 months. I had mentioned to the woman at the DMV that when I took my car for inspection that the inspection station kept my collectors voucher. She said to either make a copy of it before you go to inspection, or ask them if you can have it back. Basically what it comes down to, you need both registrations at all times. If you go to inspection without a renewed collectors voucher, even if you have the sticker on your car, you'll have to go through regular inspection from what I understand.

hmm, so i hope this doesnt mean i'm screwed and have to reapply for it. I got nothing in the mail about it or anything. I guess I have to take a ride there and talk to someone. It was november I went to inspection, so it was probably also november that I got the voucher

I never got anything in the mail either. I was at the DMV recently only because when I bought the car I put it in my dad's name for insurance purposes, and we were transferring the title. If I didn't go down to the DMV to do that, I would have had no clue either. However, my car is up for inspection in October. So two years ago from this coming October is when I first got collectors registration and all this time didn't know until now that you have to renew it every three months. Therefore, it seems to me Motor Vehicles is quite lax about it, so maybe we can get away with just renewing it a few months prior before it has to go back for re-inspection. Because the DMV didn't say anything to me like "you haven't renewed this in two years and now you owe us $80.00" or whatever for the missed periods.
