Ok, so, I can see a female who wants to go offroading driving an SUV, or someone that has to haul something. But with gas prices this high now and not going down, I highly doubt that any of those women (or many men for that matter) are out there driving an SUV for seriously the sport utility purposes that they were intended for. If you're not gonna haul s***, or drive it through some mud, or winch your buddies out of a ditch, I don't think you should buy an SUV. Period. Everybody always wants them cuz they are "safe". It's a car. It's only as safe as the way you drive it. Do you really need 4 wheel drive that bad? I would imagine those crazy women only need it for when they run themselves off the road trying to put their lipstick on in the mirror.
So i guess that means i agree. I just see too many of them going to waste by little 5 foot women. Shame Shame.
Annnnnd end rant.

no comment other than i do believe almost all females in SUV's are the 11th plague but there are also alot of men that shouldn't drive anything bigger than a VW rabbit that are in SUV's too
I agree, except they do have a point with the safety issue.

My wife and daughter won't drive cars. My wife had an Excursion, now has a Durango. My daughter has a Ramcharger, 4" lift on 35's. To each there own. A bad driver is a bad driver, doesn't matter what there in.
Edit, the only car my wife will drive is her 68 Camaro

Male or Female- a vast majority of people out there don't NEED an SUV.

I just hate all those jerkoffs in SUVs who are polluting the roads when I'm trying to get somewhere. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who works anymore...

Doesn't matter if you NEED it, its whether or not you WANT it. We don't NEED performance cars, but it sure is nice having one because you WANTED it. Whens the last time you bought a vehicle based on need? I know I don't, I buy based on what I want.

I NEED my T/A because I NEED to race, otherwise i go thru withdrawal.
all joking aside, some dumbass lady talking on her cellphone in her SUV almost killed a friend of mine who was riding his bike a couple of years ago. She wanst paying attention and went onto the shoulder of the road and struck him. granted, it was night time BUT he was on the shoulder of the road, well off the white line and he was not in any lanes. his skull was fractured in multiple places, and had bleeding on the brain as well. his nose was badly broken, road rash, etc etc etc. b4 we get off topic about helmets etc. he was 17 or 18 at the time and was not breaking any laws and Remember this- the helmet wouldntve stopped that b*tch from running over my friend....

Agreed. But people try to justify buying an SUV out of need and not want. I don't NEED a big block or performance car, I WANT one.
If you WANT one, that's perfectly fine. But I've noticed that people tend to justify their purchase with false needs. It's one thing if you live in a snowy area and your roads don't get plowed well. It's totally something else if you live in a sunny, warm part of the country and you say you NEED it for bad weather, etc. Many people who say they NEED SUVs could get by just fine with a car or van. And the line about SUV's being safer is BS. The safest type of vehicle is the one that avoids the accident in the first place.

Taking their SUV's away won't fix stupid. The problem is the driver, not what they are driving.

Again, I agree. But you can minimize the amount of damage a moron can do if get them to give up the heavier hammer.

I think most women are bad drivers. Its not that that cant drive well, they just choose not to. i remember when I had my supra and some woman backed into it with her big ass lincoln without even knowing it. I had to chase her down and show her my paint on her bumper.then her excuse was that a good song was on the radio, and she had not been paying attention. Now I park far away from stores

If that were the case, i think womens car insurance would be generally higher than mens, but thats not so. Male insurance rates are directly correlated to accident rates. Maybe all those accidents are actually womens fault but the men get faulted because we have boobs.
The problem is that most people, male or female, suck at the driver mod.

women are worse drivers, men have higher insurance rates because dingledouches that feel the need to show off their penis extension end up doing something stupid and wreck the car...for normal, everyday driving, men are usually better.

lets face it, we live in NJ, second worst drivers on the east coast. second to NY city. 80 west from exit 35 to 30 has night construction, i almost rear ended someone because they wanted to slam on their brakes in the left lane to look at the pretty orange trucks in the right lane, not to mention the guy behind me almost hit me he had to swerve to the left shoulder. that was the first time i fully tested the irocs disc brakes and im quite pleased, i still had more than half petal :) seems i can slow down from 70 just as fast as i can get up there. ok im done.

Insurance rates are based off of how much damage the user typically causes. For instance cars with over 200HP are something like 20% less likely to get into accidents than cars with under 200HP, why is the insurance higher then? Cars with more HP cause more damage. Women are bad drivers and usually make OTHER people cause the damage ;)

Either way, there should be tests people should take for certain cars. There should be a Car test, Truck/SUV test, and a Performance test.
SUV's and Peroformance vehicles are different then a tradition car. Handling, braking, and overall driving is much different. This would be a further explaination of HOW to handle the vehicles.

And how should they fund this new set of tests? By doing away with the front plate in NJ =D

Insurance is based on the idea that women get more dings and minor fender benders, men total more cars, so they are more costly. I'm not saying either is worse, because women simply cannot be worse drivers just on account of your experience alone, or mine for that matter. I can't say that men are worse drivers either. The fact of the matter is that we are all fallable humans who have the capacity to make mistakes. There is no proof that women are worse drivers just as there is no proof that men are better or worse. Not to get all feminist, but that "women are bad drivers" is just a really ignorant statement to make.

Getting onto rt 80 this morning, there was an impatient female in a Navigator.. i thought of this thread. The ramp that i use to get on 80 is a pretty high speed ramp, 2 lane ramp, camaro can take it at 75-80 no problem, but no way an SUV can.. This lady tried, and almost failed.. right into me. luckily i was able to pass her before she crossed the dotted line and saw her cross and slow down in my rear view.

we have boobs.
And as a male, I'd just like to say how glad I am of that. Big fan. (Forgive me for that one; I couldn't resist)
I strongly believe that if stupidity were a sin there are a lot of people who would burn in hell. I've seen plenty of women putting on makeup, talking on the cell phone and just generally driving like complete idiots. I've also seen just as many men who drive as though the streets are their personal racetrack because wherever they're going has GOT to be more important than where I'm going, and I've seen plenty of men looking at the fairer sex and almost crash into other vehicles and/or immovable objects (Been guilty of that one myself...go figure).
Let's look at the people who are REALLY to blame for road rage and accidents: The elderly! They should be forbidden to drive anything bigger than a compact car, and said car should be made entirely of Nerf.
There's an opinion that means nothing. Sorry...off my meds and bored.

heh.... my girlfriend has rear ended people 4 times in the past(shes drives an SUV) another friend of mine has been in 2 accidents, she drives an SUV as well. My Monte Carlo was backed into by a woman driving an Excursion, my car was parked.... my mom drives a HHHHeep Lerado, backed into a dumpster. Def some truth in that statement.
My personal experience has been that men are riskier drivers while women are either worse drivers or more distracted drivers. This is a loose rule of course. My friend Joe is possibly the most absent minded drivers I have driven with. It is actually scary at times. My grandma is an excellent driver on the other hand.

I'm an awesome driver. And, I've had my parked car backed into by a man whose truck was "too big to see" so I fail to see how it could possibly just be women. You guys just have bad luck, maybe you should teach your girlfriends how to apex a turn instead of complaining.
