I installed my Grant Wheel a few weeks ago, and finally took some pics. I like the smaller diameter wheel better than the stock size. Much easier to get in and out of, and I like the control of the smaller wheel.

I do have an airbag light on, but I'm going to try using some resistors to turn it off.

why would you get rid of your airbag??? unless that a straight racecar?? u know that doesnt pass inspection right (not that my car does) i mean the wheel looks really nice but i cant make sense of this....

i thought of the same thing. i am gunna buy that same wheel cuz the one in my 86 is ugly and i was thinkin if the car has airbags, u switch the wheel just for indepction. its not a hard swap and u can get rid of the airbag light by takin the light out or somethin.

Air bags weren't required till 94
Air bags weren't required till 94
Actually, drivers was required in cars built after april 1 1989(or automatioc seta belts), and dual were mandatory in 1996 actually, and in regards to the 1997 model year.

The government tried to make them mandatory in 1969!

I did this for both looks, adn because I feel that driving with a smaller wheel is more comfortable. It makes it easier to get in and out of, I dont have to tilt the wheel anymore. It also leaves more leg room. This car is not my Daily Driver, so safety isn't a top concern. I only drive this car in nice weather. I also installed the wheel, so that if I wanted to go back to the stock wheel, I could could do it easliy.
Wheel looks great! Risky move though, especially with all the accidents in NJ.

You should still pass inspection, but your insurance company will jack your rates if they ever find out you tampered with/disabled your air bags.
However, they don't lower your rates if you install 5 pts. And that's crap.

you sure about this because iv taken inspection coarses for PA but not NJ... even tho NJ is more strict... and in PA if you alter anything to your airbag system it shouldnt pass... o and i had a freind who had a cage in his 5.0 mustang and it wouldnt go through inspection for chassis alterations... d
