well I have been chasing a random and possibly heat related ignition issue the past few weeks. Everywhere I turned, it was pointing the usual suspects (opti, coil or icm) so I decided to pick up a new ICM & coil since they were the cheaper and easier to install components. The car would run like a charm then have a very quick loss of power (like someone just unplugged the car) followed by sputtering or stalling maybe 30 seconds later. It would not refire right after stalling but would after waiting a couple minutes. It always fires back up but its intermittent.

Replaced the coil and icm today and took it for an 1.5 hr ride to see if its ok. Also did the ICM cooling mod with the washers while I was at it. Usually the problem would occur around thr 15-30 min mark with any kind of driving and it didn't have any issues. I still don't trust it but I really hope I'm out of the water on this one. The damn car sits in the garage for the winter and when its time to drive it, it gives me issues so I'm definitely ready to enjoy it. Wish me luck.

Not an exciting tale but you don't know how this has been racking my brain. Also, rolling the fenders tomorrow after work at my place so if anyone is interested in getting theirs done before I send it back, stop on by.

cool man, i have yet to space my coil off the head still.

I know how you feel. Every time I drive mine something acts abnormal or feels different. And I take mine out pretty much one day a week. LOL

I had a very similar problem as well. I ended up doing an Opti swap. I got a replacement from Summit, put on my MSD Cap & Rotor, and ran new spark plugs & wire and the car ran like a champ!

I would check the spark plug wires first. I was running Taylor 8's and I think they were my problem. The car would run great for about 15-30 mintues, then it would start to brake up with anything over 2,500rpm's.

I'm going to try and drive it as much as I can to assure myself I'm out of the woods this time around before I will say its fixed. The issue I was having never appeared to be RPM dependant and would usually appear when cruising on the highway cruising around 2k but this wasn't always the case. It never felt like a miss, but more or less a total loss of power for that split second which I could feel in the throttle. I am running MSD wires and checked them over last night for any issues and couldn't find any.

j0n - next thursday is the date at HSW and I'm keeping the 100hp jets in....fook it! Results and video will follow....granted these issues are indeed gone! Rolling the fenders tonight and UBG is possibly stopping by so I'll have some beer nice and cold and ready to go.
