im hearing alot of things from people who say that my 1/2 inch gap due to the fact that they think my flex plate is bolted on backwards do you think that could be my problem anyone have any ideas

mm maybe, if it had no flange on either side then no, but the only way oyu can find out is.....drop the tranny, which sucks.

I think what he ment to say was hes trying to attach his trans back onto the motor, and when he went to bolt it up to the torque converter, hes got like a 12 inch gap between the converter and the flexplate, like i said i think... lol

you got it correct i posted before asking for help ill add the post here i just installed a new motor in my 86 iroc z28 the motor came used out of an 85 gmc seirra same block with just a few differences the 86 had a 1 piece rear main seal and the 85 has a 2 so the flex plate is a little different so i bought a new flex plate i now have about a half an ince gap between the flex plate and the torque converter can someone offer some suggestions on what i can do to fix the problem i still have the stock 86 700r4 with the stock torque converter anyone who might be able 2 help please do
now all the trannt shops i have talked to say that this motor and trans should mate up no problem what do you guys think about this problem

are the alignment dowels in the right places and not hanging up? Did you seat the convertor fully on the trans by slideing it on then turning it some till it fully engages and goes as the way on?
