If I wanted to get from Northern Jersey to the Delaware Memorial bridge at 5pm on a friday between memorial day and labor day which route would be the best in your opinion?

GSP? (which I remember got mostly congested around the oranges)
TPK? (which I remember got mostly congested around exits 14 & exit 8 )
287? (which I remember got mostly congested around Brunswick)

GSP wont take you all the way to the bridge. You need to be on the turnpike or 295 to get there.

Best bet is the turnpike. On Fridays, everyone takes the GSP to get to the shore towns for the weekend.

If the TPK gets backed up and you are near 195, cut across to the west and get to 295 south. That will dump you onto the bridge.

Down.

 I always, always take the Turnpike; the 16W spur, then cars only unless it's feeling trafficy then I'll go trucks/buses.

287 is probably the worst bet huh?

Thats a good one.. There is no easy way on a Friday. If your not on the road by 1pm then wait till after 8pm and take the turnpike.

the GSP would be the most out of the way route to go and everyone will be going to the shore tonight so it will be jammed. Dunno why anybody would suggest that.

Turnpike, is the best route. I don't think it will be as bad as you may think it, but still be pretty packed.

take the turnpike itll be the fastest and most direct. even if it is packed, those f^ckers still drive 90mph lol

the GSP will take you to cape may not delaware.

turnpike straight down to rt42, and take 42 over to 295 south. your only delay heading that way would be the exchange between rt42 andrt295, it jsut gets congested for a few miles, never really stops moving.

if you took 287 you would have to end up on the turnpike at exit 10 anyhow, so save the headache and just take the turnpike..

you are correct Sir....295,42, 55, 47, are all f'd up at that time. Either fake sick(leave at lunch, case of the Bird Flu) or wait till @ 8. For me to get to Fudds in Turnersville from my house is usually 25 min. Summer time on Friday almost an hour.

@batman, thats what i was thinkin

since i pretty much went to inorth jersey and now go to school in central and live in south jersey. 287 wouldnt work at all, the GSP is usually fine once you get past the oranges and then the traffic really dies out after exit 82 (seaside heights) since the next shore town is wildwood (and thats down in like the 20s or so i cant remember i never use the gsp to get there) the turnpike is usually congested around exits 8 and above, which as others stated the NJTP will take you to the bridge the GSP wont. you could also take the GSP down to 129 then cross over to the NJTP, its your call

Actually you can take exit 4 off the TP and get on 295 right there. Just get on 73N after the toll, go through 1 light and 295 is not even 1/4 mile on your right. I've always found this faster than exit 3 (42) 'cause 73N has 4 lanes and 1 light before 295, and 42 has 1 lane and a few lights.

well 287 is closest to midland park, we took it at 5pm last friday and it was congested before 80, and congested before the tpk, and the tpk was congested at the merge but all and all I was expecting much worse. No llama's passed us however

like is said, i never use the GSP to get down to wildwood, i just take 47 which is right in town

didnt know you could get to 295 from exit 4, and yea exit 3 (168 and 42) is a major PITA, so i just suffer with 73 all the way down to vineland

Do you guys get lost a lot? If you are on a road, NJ TP, that goes straight to your destination, Del Mem Bridge, why would you get off of that road? I'm not sure where you are at in North Jersey, but your best route is going to be to get on the Turnpike and stay there until you hit the bridge. That by-passes all the shore traffic on 295 and 42.
