Tire size?

I just got two 15x8 cragars with atleast a 4 inch off set. It maybe 4.5 i gotta measure it. I was wondering what is the biggest wheel i could fit on them. I know 275/50 will fit but do you think i could get away with 285/50 or 295/50 or is that pushing it.

I think you will really be pushing it on 1) your rim width and 2) physically fitting them on the car.

For what it's worth, it takes some doing to properly fit a 275 on a '69 Camaro...

I have 14x6 with 275/60s in it The fit pretty snug alittle close in height but thats why i was gonna go with a 50 series tire on a 15. That should fit fine just gotta take bumps slow

you should be ok with a 275 on an 8" rim, and a 275/50/15 is about 26.1" in overall diameter, give or take a lil depending on tire brand.

i couldnt find any specs on a "275/60R14" like you say you currently have


edit... according to the basics of tire sizing.. a "275/60 R14" would have an overall diameter of 27.2" so the 50 series 15" would be a good idea over a 60 series 14". It'll give you .5" more clearence(not a whole inch(because remember, .5" on top of tire, .5" on bottom)


and like willdbilly commented... having a 275 on a 6" rim is BAD, thats about 2.5 inches of bulge on each side.

Check the tire makers' sites (for these sizes, maybe look up BFG radial TAs). They will list allowable rim width ranges. Follow those recommendations, anything else is a waste and possibly dangerous.

O it bulges they are old belted bias plys tires i dont plan on using them thats why i got the 15x8s.......thanks for the help tho
