Hey, I'm in need of a tune, BADLY. I have a '00 Z28 LS1. If you know anyone in the area w/ HPTuners or LS1edit who won't break the bank, please lemme know. My car is running like crap and it's only getting worse. Thanks guys!

by far the best in central jerz are is cartek in garwood... they are a little pricey, but all they do is lt1 ls1 ls2 ls6 ls7... and specialize in ls1, its gonna cost about 500 for a full tune but they put your car on the dyno and it stays on there until everything is perfect. they are picky... i think they are the best. you should see some of the customer cars in their lot<--- holy s***...

p.s. they wont tune your car with out an aftermarket thermostat

1. what does a thermostat have to do with tunes?.

2. dyno tunes arent always the best way to go

3. and you cant call something by far the best if you havent had experience with them and their competitors.

i personally know at least one member here that has had TERRIBLE experiences with cartek tuning. so the best for one person may not be the best for all people.

back to the topic at hand.

eastcoast supercharging
cartek
ttp
and several other shops do it if you want to go that route.

foff667 on here used to do it but has moved on to bigger and better things and may know some people that are in the area and can help you out.

and then there is always the option of spending the 500 bucks and learning to do it yourself. personally now that foff retired, i will be buying my own software from hpt and tuning my own vehicles.

btw, that granatelli maf may be one of your problems, swap it for the stocker and see how she runs

Mike brings up good points here. And buying the software yourself makes it even better. LS1 Tuner Programs are supposedly very user friendly. Unlike LT1's and priors

i wrote , " I THINK they are the best" never spoke for anyone else, dont give a s*** if he goes there or not... just trying to help

never said dyno tunes are the best either

so if your happy with your tune... you should then get it tuned again by all other local place to see which one is best...??? all i spoke for was my experience there...

as far as the thermo... thats what they told me when i went. they said what good is DYNO tuning the car if its not going to run at the correct temp... if i knew nore than him i would quit my job and take his , but i dont... so i listened

so chill out, and dont jump down my throat when im just giving my opinion and trying to help the guy

actually you called them the best, and then at the end of your post you said you just think they are best. look above. btw you dont need to tell anyone to chill out because im fine. just if your gonna try posting help, give someone all the options.

Well this thread was basically to call out "Foff", I haven't seen him on in awhile and I guess now I know why. I do have a SLP 160Tstat but I really don't wanna take it to a shop. CarTek seems like an ok place but they quoted me some ridiculous prices for work on my car. Thanks guys, I really just need someone w/ the software already and I'd pay for the license if I had to as well...

As mentioned above, get ahold of chumma too. He's also done tuning for several people on the board.

jsut get the hptuners software yourself and use the help files and their on site tune dump to get you started and guide you. the program is very easy to understand and use, and it only costs a little bit more than paying people to tune your car.

and it only costs a little bit more than paying people to tune your car. Little bit more? $500.00 plus I have to buy the cable & I'd probably f up my PCM knowing my luck. I've had nothing but problems w/ my LS1. EVERYTHING I do to it is always a headache. I doubt tuning would be any different man.

A good tune should run ~400 bucks

thats why id be hesitant to let you buy the credits for mine, i have no desire to turn tuning into a business, and although id love to help out i would not want to mess up a car that didnt belong to me
