my car has over 100,000 miles and im getting 3.73's in it do i need a new limited slip differential? i really dont wanna spend the money on it so plz help me out

we have tech forums.........and you could have added this to one of the other 2 threads you have on the topic.

an answer........if your limited slip isnt acting up, then you shouldnt need a new one when you bolt the gears in.

pending on weather he has carrier 2 or 3 right?

But he's in the 12's, certainly constant 12 second abuse would warrant a new unit :D

dedtrends right, you need a 3 series carrier if the car currently has 2xx gears

and another thing what do u guys think is a good price to charge to do my gears i had 2 quotes,i have disk brakes, one was 395 the other was 350

Depending on the condition of your differential you may need a new one. I think the stock unit for your year is an Auburn and they are non-rebuildable.

As for price, you get what you pay for with gear installations.

If you cheap out, chances are you will get a shop that just bolts them up once, and as long as they fit "you are good to go". Nevermind that pinion depth and backlash are probably off and your car will sound like you have howler monkeys in the trunk. Don't believe the bull about "Brand XX gears are known for being noisy". Might be true a little bit but it's not a reason for a ton of noise.

A quality installation requires precision and care. Good shops usually have to set up the gears a few times before the tolerances are what they deem acceptable.

Ah yes, I had the native "GM Motive Performance" monkey with my old 91. Forgot what they looked like .. thanks .. LOL
