T-Top Conv. Shops?

Anyone know of any body shops that do t-top conversions? I know it'd be cheaper to do it myself, but there's no way in hell i'm trusting myself with that. lol

This was asked over on another board today. Its probably going to wind up costing a arm and a leg probably for the liability of a a body shop cutting apart your roof. But I'm sure any "decent" body shop would be able to do it.

Gio (Gio93Z here on the board) converted his '93 Z28 with parts off his boss's '01 SS, and he did a damn good job. I saw it at a local cruise night, and it looks like a factory T-top car now. Try PMing him if he doesn't chime in on this thread.

So many potential problems with an "after market" t-top job. That's a tougher call than you might think.

Definately consider having it done professionally if you go through with it.

4th gen are easy to convert with using the guides online and a little elbow grease. The whole t-top structure is already there. 3rd gens are a mess to do and that is a different story.

yeah, i'd obviously get the parts myself. The reason I wouldn't do it myself is, if I mess up, it's my own ass, and two if I get it done at a shop that's done it before, it could probably be done in a day or two.

I don't use the A/C, and it gets really hot in the car during the summer.

I saw some pics of a conversion and I do not blame you for not wanting to do it yourself. I couldn't take a saw to my car like that, lol.

I’m in the finishing stages of my t top conversion. It wasn’t all of that bad to do. It is intimidating when you think about, or go to attempt it. Once you have the roof cut off, it’s not all that bad. Well, mainly because there is no going back, lol. It just takes time to do it. What took the longest for me was the bondo work, and sanding, and getting both sides to look the same. Then I ran into a few problems painting the t top area (dirt, fish eyes etc.) but the last attempt came out pretty good. I don’t think any body shops will do this for you. Check out a few websites on the conversion, and familiarize yourself with it. Then, get out the Dremel, and sawzall and have at it! Here is a website or two that I used that guided me through it:
