1. Every time the top fuelers burn out or go down the track, 2 of my dogs go crazy in the house (we're about 5 miles away in Marlboro).
2. GF's father heard on the scanner that someone called 911 to complain that they keep hearing people drag racing (go figure), and asked the police to make 'em stop.
3. (This is the best one) GF's father also heard on the scanner that another person called 911 to complain that someone is constantly blowing a FOG HORN! And of course, asked if the police can make 'em stop.
BTW, people in this town are freakin' nuts...a couple weeks back, some lady called 911 because her 5 y/o daughter wouldn't stop screaming. Apparently she had ice cream 4 times that day, wanted more and wouldn't take no for an answer. Sooooo....the mother called the police to ask them to come over and explain to the girl that that much ice cream isn't good for her.

i hate the people that buy a house near a track and know about it, then turn around and call the cops cause they are making noise.:fireguns:

i hate the people that buy a house near a track and know about it, then turn around and BITCH TO THE TOWNSHIP TO TRY AND GET THEM TO SHUT THE TRACK DOWN SINCE THEY DON'T LIKE THE NOISE AND GREEDILY WANT THEIR PROPERTY VALUES TO GO UP.

I don't think they were calling to complain about the track itself, but it's funny that they didn't know what it was. It's not that often that someone confuses a top fuel burnout with a fog horn :) These people were calling from Marlboro, not Manalapan (the usual complainers).

Good fix Billy, $$$ is the true root of the complainers.

I can't blame someone for wanting to make sure their property value is as high as it can go. However, buying a house near a track that has such top fuel races, then complaining about it later, is stupid.

Dave, the thing is they complain after they buy. The long time residents historically aren't the complainers. The town n00bs are looking to buy cheap, make town changes & sell high.
IMO, anyone who bought after the track opened has no say.

That's exactly what the problem is in my area with a number of issues. The new people want to turn the town into what they had where they used to live, which pisses off a lot of people who have been here a while.

I was told that Raceway was specificaly built in the boonies of NJ 60 years ago or more so the noise wouldnt bother people. Someone had the foresight to place it so no one would be bothered. If thats teh truth (which I think it is) and then people built houses next to it, where do they come off complaining? God damn tree huging democrats

Yea thats a bunch of crap as well as the fact that they are trying to pass a law against dirtbike riding/racing...our free country is becoming a monarchy a bit more every year by year, more and more bs that we can't do a thing about...

Well, its definitely not the truth, but it may have been the boonies when it was built. All of the tracks were. 40-50 years ago no one could possibly see what sprawl has done to our state. Englishtown is the youngest of the 3 NJ tracks, I believe it was built in 1965 or so.
