somewhere around 75% of the time when i go to start my 92 firebird 3.1 i have to play with the gas in order to get it to remain running. this is only for the first 10 seconds or so then it runs smoothly, then after 20 mins or so of driving a check engine light comes on and it runs funny, like its bogging down slightly, not sure if its related, but i think it is.

any help would be appreciated. thank you.

the light doesn't come on during the initial start up, but after a small while of driving.

I'm thinking there may be a connection there. See if you can find out what the code is. I think places like autozone will read codes for free.

Most Autozones will only read codes for OBDII cars, but it wouldn't hurt to call/stop by your local store to check. If not, you can always jump the two pins to see what codes pop up.

You should be about to jump the pins on the ADL and the ECM will flash the codes via the check engine light.

How long after starting? 1-2 minutes. Sounds like it could be an O2 sensor. Once it goes into closed loop and the O2s aren't right the ECM goes into LHM while will kill the performance.
