Seventy-year-old Gertrude Hill, 39-year-old Jacqueline Hill, and five-year-old Morgan Shannon, all from Pittsgrove Township, Salem County, New Jersey, were riding in one of four vehicles that were struck by a tractor-trailer around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The accident closed down the westbound lanes of the turnpike between Reading and Harrisburg for nearly ten hours, as flames are said to have burned the victims almost beyond recognition. State Police are still investigating the crash to determine whether any charges will be filed.

Wow, that's worse than I thought. I passed the scene on my way back from Carlisle as well and my first thought was it looked real serious. Then I thought about all the maniacs doing 85-90 that kept passing me on the way out to Carlisle and how crappy a road that is. I hear it was a back up due to construction that really caused it. I had 3 or 4 of those tandem trailers pass me Saturday morning going to Carlisle.
