During the month of July, police agencies in the Division's North Region (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Morris, Sussex, and Warren) will take part in the second "Obey the Signs or Pay the Fines" speed crackdown. The program was first piloted in July, 2006, in four counties (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic) as part of a NHTSA Tri-State initiative. During the July, 2006 campaign 115 police departments participated and issued more than 6,300 speeding citations. The program has been expanded for the July, 2007 campaign in hopes that more police departments will take part in the effort to address the issue of speed, which is a contributing factor in many fatal and serious injury crashes. Grant funding has been awarded to approximately 70 police agencies for the campaign, and many additional departments will participate at their own expense. The purpose of the campaign is to aggressively enforce speed limits on both highways and residential roads.

I'm willing to bet that the careless was tacked on due to being a certain amount above the speed limit, how fast were you going? lol

no, no idea. i saw that mythbusters episode too....wtf. i got a "second opinion" getting my gas tested and both came up with sugar, ether (and lots of it), and a whole bunch of ugly stuff... i dont even remember else. what ever it was it wrecked HAVOC on my engine.

i'm pretty much complete replacing what had to be replaced. fuel pump, fuel injectors, filters, etc the damage wasnt as extensive as i believed it to be but man it's a hassle

didn't mean to hijack this thread.

98 in a 55... yeah careless was tacked on...

im going to pay the careless get the two points, and fight the speeding... get it reduced to unsafe driving... im getting nipped with like 600 in fines and 2 points....

second time i've been pulled over for a moving violation

i only have two points...

and it wasnt like i was speeding home...at 98... i just went 98... and cruised tdown to like 65-70... just did it at the wrong place wrong time. :(

i saw you drive by paul, lol..

im going to say to the cop "maybe it was that other pewter ss!"

JUST 98?? wtf are you on? you're lucky as hell thats all you got. A lot of cops would throw the book at you for it. thats almost double the speed limit.

I'm one of htose 5-9ers, sometimes it gets me, and the twisty north jersey back roads im usually around 15 or so over, i have to fight my 2nd speeding ticket ever in two weeks for 56 in a 45.. i think theyll drop it for me.

In regards to the new crack down. Good for them. I've been using speed limits as more of a "guide line" since ive been driving. Now ill just leave a few minutes earlier and do the speed limit. Its not as difficult as it sounds.

Yes, but at that speed, you should be at the track, not on a public road.

Noodles

^ we have different ideas of "public roads"
this road has farms on it... 2 lanes... no traffic...

i consider that a rural road.

i live in one of the busiest area's in america...

when you go from my town, and the gwb entrance area, and the lincoln tunnel area...

and you go to sparta...

its hard not to indulge.

but i wasnt DRIVING at 98mph...

i went from 60 to APPARENTLY 98 (which i still don't think is true), and than broke to about 65.. not because i saw a cop or because there was someone else in front of me... just because i wanted to make a lil jump and go down

he happened to be PERFECTLY in the spot i was at my peak

its hard to believe those odds.

Just more cops giving out tickets rather then saving lives.

Did you read the article above at the beginning? The point is to save lives, and raising money at the expense of violators instead of tax payers is not a bad benefit either.
