At 46,000 miles, should I do any maintence on the trans in my 01 Silvy? Would it be a bad idea to change the filter, and just replace whatever comes out? or is the full professional flush worth the price?

Or, do I just let it be?

definitley do the filter...wouldnt bother with a full flush at that mileage unless the fluid is dirty. just replace whatever fluid comes out.

Tim,
Just drop the pan and replace the filter. Do not throw the gasket out it should be a reuseable type with a steel core. Refill the trans with Valvoline or other high grade conventional dextron. I perform this service to my truck every 30k. Good luck.
p.s. Dont even try to take the drain plug out of the trans pan 99% of them siezed in there and you just end up rounding off the head and hitting your knuckles on the crossmember. (so I have heard of course.. lol)
