My thoughts and prayers are with him, and hopefully they blast that a-hole away when they catch him. Its rejects liek that that ruin this world, what made him feel like a bigger man, the fact that he pushed around a woman, or the fact he shot someone and then fled like wimp.

I hope he has a swift and full recovery, and that they catch that scumbag before he can hurt anybody else. That's a god damn shame.

no good deed goes unpunished.

I wish the officer nothing but the best, its a shame that good people get shot. I hope the shooter gets found, beaten within an inch of his life and then gets dragged behind a car all throughout town.

I passed by it several hours after it had happened. Didn't really know what was up, just found it odd they had 1/2 of broad street shut down basically so knew something had happened. I definitely hope they caught the bastard & hope your friend is ok Mike.

here i was getting pissed because i didn't find it in the links provided... 2007 report for those who missed it:

Off-Duty Detective, Intervening in Dispute, Is Shot in New Jersey
Published: July 16, 2007
An off-duty detective was shot and critically wounded yesterday afternoon while trying to break up a fight outside a pizza parlor in Hamilton Township, N.J., the police said.

The detective, Joshua Hahn, 29, of the Mercer County sheriff’s office, underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the chest and remained in critical condition at a hospital last night, the sheriff said.

Lt. James H. Kostoplis, a detective with the Hamilton Township Police Division, said that the authorities did not want to identify the hospital,

The Mercer County sheriff, Kevin C. Larkin, gave the following account.

Detective Hahn, who has been on the force for five years, and his father, Rick Hahn, were driving on South Broad Street about noon. They were going to Detective Hahn’s house, to get an electric stapler to use in repairing a relative’s roof. When Detective Hahn saw a man pushing and shoving a woman outside Anthony’s Pizza Palace II, he pulled into the parking lot, jumped from his car and tried to defuse the situation, intervening on behalf of the woman.

Investigators said it appeared that Detective Hahn had identified himself as an officer and was trying to arrest the man when the man pulled out a gun and shot him.

The man and the woman fled in a white Acura, the authorities said.

Hundreds of police officers and federal and state law enforcement officers joined a manhunt in the region.

No arrests had been made by last night.

The area in Hamilton Township where the shooting occurred is a blend of professional offices, fast-food restaurants and single-family homes.

In Anthony’s pizzeria, the owner, who gave his name only as Frank, said that the four or five employees who were in the business at the time of the shooting had not seen or heard anything. He said that most of them were busy working in the rear of the restaurant at the time.

Late yesterday, a longtime friend of Detective Hahn’s, Officer Bryan W. Wood of the Hamilton police, said: “They are the kind of guys, him and his father, they wouldn’t hesitate to step in if something’s wrong. He is a stand-up guy.”

Ethan Wilensky-Lanford contributed reporting.

glad he's going back to work.
