I discovered last night (at about 2am) that swapping rears used to be easier on a lift... If anyone's in the area of Midland Park NJ after work on Wendsday and would like to help me balance this boat anchor on my floor jack while I try to fanagle the springs in I could use about 30min of your time. My brother and Father are both away racing this whole week at some IHRA event in Michigan so Im screwed unless I can get Sach or maybe even recruit one of my non-mechanically inclined buddys to swing by... let me know.

Thanks

Agreed! Anthony is 4, and is out there every time I'm working on the car. Giada is only 1 though; kinda tough to make her work when she can't stand on her own yet. :D

yeah, when I was five or six my father promised to let me help work on the family car, which was a 1980 suburban. I remember sitting there for like 2 hours, which you know for a 5 year old with obviouls ADD syndrome its like 2 days, eagerly waiting in anticipation so that he would let me do something, once I realized whatever he was doing he was almost done with I remember crying that I didnt do anything, he felt so bad he said "hey, I still have to put on the air cleaner, do you want to put it on with the wing nut?" i nodded yes, he said "all you have to do is put the wing nut on the stud once I get back from cleaning off the air cleaner cover, can you do that?" i nodded yes, so he took off to go get the new air cleaner from out of the box and to hose off the debris from the lid, naturally, I wanted to do a supurb job once he got back so I figured I would get a feel for how the wing nut would thread onto the stud..... well, I crawled up onto the bumper, placed the wing nut on the stud and I droped it, It's amazing how big the primarys were on big block q-jets. I also learned how to properly remove and reinstall a carb that day. It was from that moment forth that I knew I was destined to work on cars.

That sounds soooooo familiar! :) Awesome story! So, how did it go, did you get the rear in??

naaa.. I had a game last night, maybe tonight or tomorrow... I have the drive shaft and torque arem suspended by welding rod, I figure I could drop either one of those and bolt it to the rear to keep it from torquing over as I lift it with the floor jack and try to get the springs in that way, but since I never drive that thing it can wait a while till i get a second pair of hands and just do it right. Sach is supposed to swing by today or tomorrow, I'll find out later. Worst case, I wait for my brother to come home.
