I'm about to come into some extra cashdue to a re-enlistment bonus for the service. I've already got permission from my wife to spend a little bit of cash on my car. I'm thinkon buying a whisper lid. I have a RAM Air stock but I've heard that a whisper is better and I'd get a little more HP out of it. Can anyone point me in the right direction to but one? Also I'm thinking on buying smooth bellows for my car. Is this a waste of money? Then last I was planning on taking it to egt a custom tune. Anyone have any suggestions in South Jersey? Only place I know of is the SLP shop in Toms River.
OR how would you people spend $500 in mods?

Thanks in advance

I'm poretty sure a lid is only $100, so you'd have $400 left to play with. from what I've heard, the TSP, whisper, and SLP lids are the better ones.

a lid is a lid is a lid is a lid...and they never go bad so you may want to try and snag a used one. I think you can do a smooth bellows for a couple bucks using stuff from home depot. Other than that a tune would be good, maybe try a mail-order one since noone does good tuning around here anymore.

ians right, a lid is a lid....one correction to his statement is that tsp dosent make their lids anymore......i wouldnt touch the home depot (fernco) bellows with a 10foot pole, they are hard to install, tend to crack lids, and offer negligable gains.....

if the car is stock and your just doing the lid, i wouldnt spend my money on a tune yet, i would wait untill there was a few more things done so the tuner had somthing more to work with.....

100 on the lid, if the cars a m6 i would spend 150ish on a b&m or pro5.0 shifter

then put the rest of it away for a while

I don't see a mod list, so this might be a moot point. Did you do an exhaust yet?

I just looked up that shifter, thats pretty nice. I've never considered it at all!. Well thats 1 mod I'll make for sure. Doesn't look very hard to change out either.
I think my biggest question was a lid.
And I know "a lid is a lid is a lid is a lid"
But Is a lid better than my stock RAM air lid? Or is my Stock RAM air lid a lid.
I'm confused when it comes to that.

if your stock lid has air baffles on it then yes go aftermarket. as for the shifter install it is cake...just pull out the center console, unbolt the stock shifter(4 bolts) replace with the new shifter(using black rtv) and reinstall the center console

I would do the shifter first. It will make the car much more enjoyable to drive.

Regarding lids, they are all pretty much the same aside from material. Some of the 'harder' plastics can crack.

Get a used lid for $50, then look into a ported throttle body for $50-70 with exchange of your TB. Other than the shifter, you might as well save up the rest for some more serious mods. Is the car your daily driver?

I've had whisper and SLP lids, the SLP lid fits the best that I have seen. I agree with the pro 5.0, awesome shifter

No handheld tuners.....most of them are garbage.

Buy HPTuners and do it yourself - the software is easy to use, and there are tons of help files that come with it. Their forum is also a great resource.

I'm sending back the smooth bellow. I tried for over an hour fitting that thing and the lid just wouldn't sit right. So finally I put on the stock bellow and the lid fits fine.

Anyway Anyone else has any suggestions? I still have about $330 to spend.
