****UPDATE PAGE 3 (post #61)****
Hey guys.
For those who don’t already know, yesterday (Saturday), j0n was riding his bike on Rt 22 in Readington. He was in the left lane when a 17-year-old girl cut across to his lane and nailed the brakes in an attempt to get to a u-turn. j0n ran into the back of her car, sending him flying off of his bike. His injuries included a compound fracture to his lower right leg and a fractured left ankle.
He was airlifted from the scene to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he underwent emergency surgery for his injuries. The surgery was a success, and he is on lots of pain meds and will be in the hospital from 3 to 5 days, longer if needed.
I just came back from visiting him, and he is in high spirits. The pain meds seem to being doing their job, and he is just chillen, waiting for anybody who wants to see him. He is in high spirits, and would be more than happy to have visitors.
PM me and I will be more than happy to provide you with the needed infoto go an visit him. I think visiting hours are until 8pm, but not 100% sure. Like I said, he’ll be there for awhile, so if you want to go but can’t make it today, just swing by when you can.
Also, he has a DVD player but no good movies, so bring him some good stuff to watch.
His mother is keeping me posted on everything that happens, so I will relay any info I get to you guys. In the meantime, just keep him in your thoughts and wish him a speedy recovery.

Holy crap, that's right near me!
Those Rt 22 u-turns are death traps. A lady down the street screwed one of them up and got into a nasty accident; she got hurt really bad and she killed her grandchild.
I'm glad he is in stable shape and doesn't seem to be hurt very bad.
j0n, I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Holy ****! Didn't he just hit a deer on his bike not too long ago? When I started reading this and read that he flew off the bike I immediately expected the worst. Thank god he's alright and give him my best!

WOW! I just got home from work and saw this! I rang jOn up and chatted for a bit, he is messed up but glad it wasn't "worse." The scary thing is he thinks the girl actually ran him over at some point! He'll prolly be laid up for a couple of weeks in the hospital, so try and get down to see him. I'm gonna try, 'cause he's my favorite drunk monkee!

I was at the Nats when he texted me with his unfortunate news. I actually just came back from seeing him and he is indeed in high spirits. I would have brought over some movies if I knew he had a dvd player. I'll prob be swingin by through the week to see how he is doing. Definitely cant catch a break with that bike but lucky it wasn't worse.
However, I did mention to him that I will be shooting down to Atco on Tuesday in his honor lol. I actually was hoping he would be out of the hospital by tuesday so I could toss him in my car. We had a good laugh.

Wow, that's too much bad luck for one person. I watched somebody pull a u-turn right in the middle of 31 today between the cement median! There are a lot of bad drivers out there so you really have to drive defensively and expect people to do stupid stuff(especially in NJ). I know you're trying to make Al Gore proud by riding a bike to save gas but I would suggest using a car or truck instead of a bike! Get well soon!

im gonna see if i can shoot up there tomorrow sometime and bring him some vids...just talked to him on the phone, said he's allright, might have to go back into surgery tomorrow...so if he doesnt pick up during the day that might be the reason...
I'll be checking in to see him tomorrow after work.

god dammit. this is too much. i feel for you, dude. i am glad it wasn't worse, too, as we could've lost ya. there are way too many bad drivers out there and if your concentration lapses for a split second you can become a statistic.
hope the meds are treating you well. remember to keep the water intake high, because the codeine will dry you out. since he won't be home for a coupla days (if not longer) i would appreciate it if anyone who goes to see him reminds him about this.
hope you make a full and speedy recovery. get well soon so you can get back to your regular activities.

Thanks alot everyone. I finally found a way to get a laptop in here so here I am. I really appreciate all the kind words and hopefully Ill be out of here soon. The accident occurred as Fish said it did with the 17yr old girl making an abrupt u-turn from the right hand lane while i was travelling in the left lane. I have a broken left ankle with pins in it and a severely broken right leg, referred to as an "open compound tib/fib fracture". Essentially the two large bones in my right shin snapped and poked through the skin, causing one hell of a mess, and leaving my foot pretty much dangling off my leg. Other than that I have some relatively minor road rash and a highly deminished need for a motorcycle
I really appreciate all the calls and everyone stopping by very much and if you have the oppurunity to do either it really means alot to me. The phone number for the hospital is posted above.

TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese biker failed to notice his leg had been severed below the knee when he hit a safety barrier, and rode on for more than a mile, leaving a friend to pick up the missing limb.
The 54-year-old office worker was out on his motorcycle with a group of friends in the city of Hamamatsu, west of Tokyo, on Monday, when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and bumped into the central barrier, the Mainichi Shimbun said.
He felt excruciating pain, but did not notice that his right leg was missing until he stopped at the next junction, the paper quoted local police as saying.
The man and his leg were taken to a hospital, but the limb had been crushed in the collision, the paper said.

Good luck on your recovery.
Boon I'm not sure if i'll be able to drive a stickshift once im all healed up...if that's the case I dont want to spend all that money on a car I can't drive. Honestly the more I think about a car the more I think I'm just going to get an ls1 car.
Also knipps, its kind of weird you mentioned that story since I actually thought my foot was missing once i stopped rolling. I looked into the road and saw my boot(sole facing me) and I knew it was tied on tightly, plus the pain in my leg/foot was unbearable so I half-expected to look down and not see a foot attached. Obviously there was one attached though.

im headin over there with our mutual friend shortly. he also has a playstation 2 there now as well, so its not quite so bad.
still sucks though...and it's 6 channels. The problem is im at a subacute rebab facility due to the fact that i am non-weight bearing on both legs so I am ineleigable for an "acute" rehab facility. Subacute is typically reserved for nursing homes which is essentially what this place is. I'm fairly confident im the only person here under the age of 60 as a patient. Not to mention noone speaks english, nor do any of the nurses read my chart or talk to each other. The place is awful. Once I get to an acute rehab center however things should go 100x better. Thanks again for the good wishes.
PS The damn computer blocks out ebay and facebook. how gay is that!?!
Damn j0n. I was in Myrtle Beach for the last week and I just read this. If theres anything I can do for ya, let me know. Theres a good group of people here on this site, especially the group that came to my house and brought me a box of Kasey, errr, I mean Keebler Cookies, a cpl days after I got hurt at work last year. Stay strong, and trust me, everything they tell you to do in rehab/therapy, do it. Its 10x worth it and almost guarantees a great and speedy recovery.

i think they cant cast him yet because they still have to drain the fluid out of the wounds to make sure they dont get infected.
No reason for casts since my left ankle is screwed together and I'm cleared to move it as far as I can tolerate. Also, my right leg has a titanium rod which keeps it far more stable than a cast would.
There will be no more drainage either, and the reason for all the stitches is due to the fact that my bones made THAT BIG of a cut on my leg, the bones ripped my leg apart.
Steve: no more sponge baths! I was finally cleared yesterday to take showers! :w00t:
