My birthday is Nov. 18, so I hinted to my wife that would be an awesome birthday present for me too! I just hope they actually make the tour happen. My first VH concert I went to was Monsters of Rock in '88, when I was 14. I was too young to see Diamond Dave when he was in the band the first time, so I'd really like to see them now.

Update...
I really like what I see & hear. Hey, maybe I can qualify for really good handicap seating. LOL (it hurts to LOL right now)

I have a lot of vintage VH bootlegs, and that is pretty good. They weren't ones to sound like the record anyway. DLR was never a great live singer, and that sounds par for the course.
This would be cool. I might have a free ticket for the 10/3 show. MSG & NJ tix not on sale yet. http://www.livenation.com/artist/getArtist/artistId/3718/
Dammit I love the Mighty Van Halen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought you woulda known! They've been plugging the on-sale date on Q104.3 (NY Classic Rock station, dunno if you get it down there) since last week that's why I knew. I'm suprised it sold out that quick! Glad I have a computer in my office, otherwise I probably would have missed it too. I hope you can get tickets!

Opening night review from a friend of mine on a zep board:
It's 3:40 am.. just returned to my room... I'll make this brief because I must sleep, but I have a bunch of video I'll post later with a better review.
for now:
GO SEE THIS SHOW.
holy ****. .If it costs you $500, go see them. I was at the end of the 5th row from the stage and move up to the stage itself (left side) after the first two songs and watched the rest from 10 yards away from the band.
They ******* rocked. I could find nothing wrong. They kept wolfie's mic down enough that I didn't hear the 'bad singing' that was reported from LA rehearsals. He's really a good bass player, too. nice solid bottm.
So many hot chicks down front...
Eddie's solo was ******* BLISTERING. He played all the little bits like little guitars intro, cathedral and that kind of thing..
these old bastards rocked like 25 year olds for about 2.5 hrs - STRAIGHT. no breaks. they hardly ever even stopped at all. I don't know how they did it.
They're in GREAT shape and REALLY seemed to be having a good time - I was right next to them and you could see on thier faces that they were glad to be back with a crowd as wild as it was. When they stopped after the first two songs and said something like "well, it took us 20 years," you couldn't hear the rest of it because the crowd nearly lifted the roof off the place.
anyway, so much for the shortness... much more later when I get a decent broadband connection. (no I didn't tape the audio - I'm sure someone did).
GO SEE VAN HALEN.

Man, that's great news! My only fear is they won't be able to keep their collective egos in check long enough to make it to the shows here. I hope they've grown up by now!

Don't underestimate the power of the paycheck (and large bills to pay). They'll probably get through the whole tour, then do the talkshow circut to air the behind-the-scenes antics.

Is it the original lineup or did Mike Anthony step out? Pretty good setlist too. I saw them with Hagar and with the dude from Extreme, but never with Roth.
