Well I did make it to Atco tonight but holy crap my car/myself/track just didn't measure up.

I show up nice and early to hopefully get a few quick runs in but for some reason they started 30 min plus late...all while the slick cars showed up to cut to the front of the lines.

First run: Left at 3k (well attempted) and it dropped to 2.5k while pedaling to control the spin. Almost seemed to hook and then the juice kicked in at 3k to light the tires right back up. Shifted to second and attempted to give it a chance to grab but spun again all over the place. Attempted third gear this time and the car freakin kept lighting the damn tires up when the juice kicked in. I got a little too sideways and had to let out. I short shifted to fourth and wtf would you know it?....tires spun again in 4th.

Lets just say that a v6 camaro vert got me by 3 tenths lol.

Most the subsequent runs were better if compared to my first but overall pretty dissapointing. I ended up with a best of 13.1 @114 w/ a 2.25 60'. Tires spun hard in second and part of third on almost every run. It was tough to control the power.

However...and here come the excuses...I really wish Atco would not put the cones out so I could not launch in the groove where the grip is. I also didn't know that you had to go through the water box (unlike Etown) so I attempted to get my street radials cleaned off but the fronts carried too much water which probably didn't help my traction issue. Also my MPH was way lower than it should have been but I blame this on me not able to get the car in it's powerband from the start and keep it there while not spinning.

I def need to invest in some good dr's and save for a 12-bolt so I can launch this car properly.

I also met Squirrell and it was nice talking to you. Hope the jeep improved on it's time.

Overall it was a nice experience regardless of how my car performed at the track. Everyone was friendly and I will def. head back there with the proper equipment this time.

That run was the best of the night sadly. That WRX seemed to run pretty strong. What mods did he have? I'm assuming some basic bolt-ons. However, I find it funny that every time I go to the track I always line up with a wrx.

Thanks for the compliments everyone on how the car looks. Now I just gotta back up it's bark.

The jeep beatin the honda was priceless. I would have ended my life if that was me...however a v6 camaro did beat me my first run. I wish I had that one on camera.

that would be me in the jeep, i raced him 3 times and beat him to the line every time...he would trap about 5 mph higher, but ET about 4 tenths behind...add on to that that i tree'd his *** every run, and we end up with a very pissed off honda boy, i could tell he was getting madder and madder every time we pulled back in the lanes...best run of 16.2 @ 83 btw, ill write the entire slip down when i get home from work

ALL ******* MOTOR baby

I wanna get mine down to Atco one night and see if I have a shot at a low 16....I shouldn't have the traction issues that you have thanks to my big ole tires.

Nah, it gets moving pretty quick. It doesn't seem quite as fast as my stock one, but this one has a K & N intake and a generic catback on it. :shrugs: We'll see what it does.

He has a bigger turbo, turbo back exhaust, CCI and a tune. He just bought the car about a month ago so that was his first time ever running it. Also his first time running a stick car. He said he was pulllin onto you until he had to shift from 2nd to 3rd. Them cars like most are hard to shift at the point. He also had trouble launching it

see the thing is...i dont know if i had traction issues...or it really takes that long to cover 60 feet lol...girlfriend wasnt real useful in pickin out the differences...and manual shifting helped a ton, picked up 3 tenths doing that alone

You couldn't tell if you were lighting up the tire? My stock one did all the time on the street if I stood on it....

What RPM were you manually shifting it at? Mine seems to be starting to go flat about the time it shifts at WOT, and I wouldn't wanna wring it up much past that. The AW4 isn't know for it's strength and durability.....

intake = louder than tire lol...
i would pop it out of 1-2 at 5k and the same for 2-3, on the one run it spun to 5300, didnt make a diff. in trap so...

Interesting. His '60 foot was a 2.082 (mine was a lovely 2.25) which I can see why you say he had trouble launching. Those cars are good for a bit lower stock so def room for improvement...much like myself lol. My reaction time was also almost 4 tenths quicker so that explains why he didn't jump out on me at the start. I wasn't watching him at all until after I crossed the line but I pulled him all down the track just by looking at my mph/et's compared to his. He trapped 100 while I went through at 114. Did he have problems with the car? I am assuming he did since a new turbo and supporting mods should def give him a higher mph than that.

they put the cones out there cause street radials effect the VHT and then when the fast slick/DR cars come up then they have no traction. everyone that i run into and know at the track w/ DRs i tell tehm to get in the T&T lane so that they can run in the groove.

the last thing i want is to go to the track looking for new bests in my car and have street radials mess up the track and potentually cause a dangerous situation. however i do agree w/ you on the waterbox and not being able to go around it.

youll see 12s w/ DRs and better weather

I understand the track catering to the guys that are at the track all the time (more serious racers) as opposed to the few times a year guys(like myself). Those guys are what keeps the place with in business so again..that's just fine. The cones just seemed a little bit too far out the first couple times out which put me into some cracked asphalt and such. The runs afterward were better with the cones tucked in a little better. Something had to be laid down on the track from a previous car because the wild spinning on my first run was ridiculous.

Next time I go to Atco I will be prepared with the proper tires and run in the T/T lanes so I can run in the groove. I had never been there before so it was all new to me and overall I still enjoyed myself.

ahhh ok,

yeah when you get some DRs on there def get in the TT lane. also when your off the groove cause of the cone, yes you will be more proned to spinning cause your in the area where fluid can leak at the line as you already know.

everything comes w/ seat time.youll get there.

He Bought the car with all the work already done to it....It probaly needs to be re tuned cause its only runnin 11 lbs of boost. Stock the run 15. He was just running to see where it was now cause on the street it was keepin up with his srt8 magnum which is pretty impressive
