ok so im putting a 355 into my 305 iroc, instead of buying a new ( used lol ) block, couldnt i just put a new bigger crank/rods/pistons and bore/stroke the 305 to make it a 355?

In short, no. Not the same block, and you will have to get new heads if you want decent flow, and a slew of other things. 350 blocks aren't that hard to come by.

305 CRANK AND RODS ARE THE SAME AS 350

I've seen a few stroker kits for 305s that bump your C I s up to something in the 320-330 range. A lot of people diss the 305 for it's small bore and crappy heads, but if you are on a budget and wanna use what ya already have the stroker kit might not be a bad way to go. It's such a great time for automotive technology that just about anything can be built to run good. :)
305's = valve shrouding = limited performance

Yeah you won't be able to bore out the 305 block to a 350. You can get a "Mexican" block for about $600.00, my engine builder buddy swears by them, he's used them for over 900 builds and has yet to have a problem. I think the only real difference is it has holes on both sides for a dipstick.

well im getting a block for 400-500 dollars, then for 1500 he's building the rest of the motor. and im going to get a holley stealth ram i think for the injection, and a TPiS big mouth manifold, 30lb injectors and a 52mm throttle body to finish it all off. but its getting at least a .500 lift cam he said plus head work and what not

and UBG that kit is a 335 stroker kit and the kit alone is 600, then u have to balance it, then for all the machining and other parts. its just not cost effective in the least.

I C. Yeah, it makes more sense to go with the 350 when the bux are added up.
