If anyone knows anything about kids driving around Rt 38/Lumberton in a brown 4-door car that like to beat an 18 y/o unconscious, let me know.
Friend of mine was at the Super Wawa on Rt 38 in Lumberton around 1AM today (8/25). Went to throw some trash out, when some kids roll up in a brown 4-door and start throwing their trash at him. He responds merely with a, "Yo, that ain't cool"...and they all get out and beat him unconscious. He's suffering from a Concussion, and can't remember much of the incident, but he'll be ok. The only description that he can remember is a brown 4-door with a bunch of teenagers inside. Any info that anyone can toss my way will be greatly appreciated and totally anonymous.

Are you saying the guy should have started throwing punches before the 4 guys did?

if four people get out of a car at you, you better start throwin. when you have no defense, go on offense. odds are you will still catch the beating since it is 4 on 1, but you increase your chances.

nah... running is a much better option... unless your jackie chan.. run INTO the wawa.. for instance... ask to call the police
but don't blame the victim.
still, who knows what he REALLY said.. he could be telling the truth.. or he couldve said "go eff yourselves"
impossible to tell
still. aint his fault
silly argument
ps... i've been beat up twice...
the first time i was jumped, and i took the offensive.. i broke my leg...
the second time when some older dude got out of his car, i took the defensive... and got beat up pretty bad...
either carry a weapon.. or run... avoid any damage. lol...
but he hit my jeep with something.. so i got out to see what happened.. he took it as a challenge and RUSHED my ***..
but i don't play games any more... i'm too angry and fed up to be defensive or offensive, i'll hit you with a bat dude it isnt even funny.

i have been close to getting beaten like that before. lucky for me my friends were close enough to hear the comotion and came to my aid before too many punches/kicks were thrown.
i have seen people try to hide in buildings before, it only leads to the fight taking place later and with much more bitter consequences when the person didn't try to stand their ground in the first place.
i am not a violent person naturally, but i am not the kind who's first instinct is to run away either.

then i'd have to say that your instincts aren't very good. you know me. if things were to throw down, whether it's 4 on one or 10 on one, you have to know when to stand your ground (as in, judge very quickly if you have half a chance of walking away after) or take flight.
long story short: i have taken flight when the odds were not in my favor. i took my swings, but i felt like i was going to go down hard (maybe the final one) and when you feel people behind you starting to close in, you have to assess very quickly. sometimes the numbers are too many, regardless of your skillset and you must run in order to live.
it sounds like this kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time, is all. he might have mouthed-off, but i doubt it. some people just go cruising for trouble and feel safety in numbers. i hope the cops get them and they spend a little time in a different kind of party, with the tables turned on them.

But when your smoke screen dissipates, you're just 15 feet away limping going "ow damn knee"

sorry to hear about your friend.
it sounds like the whole thing happened so fast that he didnt have time to weigh out his options. i have to agree with the people who are saying he should have taken the offensive though. im not a big guy, im like 5'11 and 175. im smaller now, i was 195 like 2 years ago. ive had guys much bigger than me start fights just because they think they have the advantage... but i can say that ive never "lost" in a fight.
i was in the metro one night in italy, and some bigger guy walked up and told me to give him my wallet... all i had to do was pull a knife out of my back pocket... didnt even have to open it or anything, and the guy took off running.
some people will start stuff thinking that you wont put up any resistance, but as soon as you show that you are willing to give them a run for their money, they dont want to deal with it and go try to find an easier target.
dont make it easy for anyone!

Hope your friend gets better... These things can go very wrong.
Growing up in Brooklyn I seen or been a part of many things like this.
Usually never ends well...
What I learned is leave it to the Cops and if you can run from the situation.
My Cousin who is like my Brother got Jumped outside of a Club years back. They broke his ribs and bruised him up real bad.
A month later my Cousin his Brother found ran into him at a Gas Station and beat him with a tire iron. He called the Cops and pressed charges.
His Brother had to do a couple years in Jail and my cousin got probation.
It wasn't worth that moment of gratitude.
