Looking for a set of clear (aftermarket) front and rear side marker euro lenses for my 1991 Bird. These would replace the STOCK FACTORY units. There were quite a few of them on eBay several years ago, but that market has dried up. White face gauges were popular then, but try to find a set for a 3rd Gen dash now. I have tried EVERY supplier on eBay, but all they now carry is from 1993 to 2002. :-?

JUST FOUND A CLEAR SET ON eBAY. THEY ARE SOLD BY SPEEDTRONICS. He has several sets left. They come with orange and hyper white bulbs. I just installed them(what a B I T C H to get off those stupid clips)but they look FANTASTIC. Had to install the hyper whites instead of the stock clear bulbs because the stock bulbs gave it a yellow white, but the hyper whites really do make it stand out with their bright white. :w00t:

So you replaced an amber lens with a clear one and kept a clear bulb? :nono:

Yes, the clear side marker lens have a really nice diamond cut chrome look to them, and if you wanted to, you could get the orange lighted look by using the bulbs they supply you with(you get 4 bulbs, 2 orange and 2 hyper white). The stock bulbs had a yellowish off white look when lit, but the hyper whites give off a really BRIGHT WHITE lite when on. If you want to look them up, my item number was 150179507901. They may still have other sets listed. He told me that has been in business since 1999, and bought a lot of older stuff back then, and just found these. I know NOBODY has had them on eBay for the last few years, because that's how long I have been trying to track down a set.

You do know that's illegal, right? Sidemarkers and blinkers must stay amber. If you switch to a clear lens, you must run an orange bulb.

white or amber are good to go upfront, the rear must be red. ive passed inspection with white bulbs and clear lensed sidemarkers plenty of times, altho i ran amber LED's for a while in the 91 z28 before going to a white LED

No, the fronts must be amber and the rears can be either red or amber. At least that's the way it was last time I flipped through my dad's inspection manual.
Just because you passed inspection with it doesn't mean it's legal.....

Ok....just read through the statute concerning them.....
Fronts can be white or amber, rears can be amber or red.

Thanks for the update, but it also is a SHOWCAR, and it goes out about 7-8 times a year. Plus I have a Collector Car Inspection Sticker, and the only thing they care about is that the odometer is working every two years!

That's all inspection cares about - but you can still get a ticket for it, regardless of your registration.
