View Full Version : Tough weekend

So far I've clocked 10 months since I've made any progress on the '69. Passenger quarter is still off, minitub is still half in, and the plasma cutter is dusty.
This weekend I was going to hit it hard and get that side of the car squared away, but I developed a nasty power steering leak on the GTP and had to work on that instead- to no avail, since it ended up being the steering rack after I replaced the pump and lines. Now I've got no time to work on it so I've got to send it in to get done. Then my computer crapped the bed due to a spyware infection so I had to back up all of my files on an external HD and reformat.
Woof.
How was everybody else's weekend?

The baby was cranky, but other than that I've had a pretty good weekend.....

At least you had all the right intentions to work on it. All I've been doing on my days off is sleepin', 'casue I stayed up the night before watching Adult Swim and chit...

I procrastinated doing my english essay, then I went to cruise night in the convertible camaro with my buddy to Chatterbox, freezing our azzes off on the way home. Then I went to church today, procrastinated doing the essay, and now am doing this while the essay due tomorrow morning is still not done.

Got the new Accel HEI dizzy installed in the 396(wow, that old POS was really in bad shape), got a fresh coat of wax on the SS396 today, got a mountain bike ride in yesterday, went in to work for a couple of hours of unpaid OT, went to the Delaware Valley Old Time Steam Engine show at Washington Crossing's Park to see the old tractors and old engines(there also happened to be a nice silver/black 69 Z28 there and I talked to the guy for a while), went fishing and caught some smallmouth bass, stripers and catfish. But I didn't get the back yard mowed so that is on tap for tomorrow.

Yesterday I picked up the parts for the car, then did some homework and some stuff around the house, went to a bonfire last night. Today I spent the day recovering from last night, and watched some football.

Yeah, really. I've had the windows open at night and it is frigid. I think it's 49 out there now.

49, we're at 44 right now and we got down to 40 last night. The squirrels are outside making a bonfire right now! It should be warming up the next couple of days but this is way below normal. Global Cooling! :willy:

oh, yeah, so we pulled up all of the carpets in the living room and dining room. my wife's sister had laminate floors put in, so natch we had to get them too. pergo, 30 year guarantee, medium oak, with sound resistance on the underside. we put down a vapor barrier (house is on a concrete slab) with a 3/8" pad attached to it.
the floor is supposed to have 1/8" gap around the outside so it can move if it needs to (normal give and take of flooring). so i got elected to do the finish work. been a long time since i've had a hammer in my hand. i got all of the baseboards (all new material) down and was finishing up the thresholds (also new) when she got home from work yesterday.
the only thing left is the threshold for the front door, which i am working on today. i'm making it out of a piece of 3/4" maple so it will take the abuse of the traffic coming in the front door. it's been an interesting experience.

changed my lifestyle
Uh...hope this doesn't mean you've switched teams...like to Ford or something.
Chopped and stacked some firewood, decided to rent a log splitter to do the rest, watched most of the race, played with the kid, told the wife I was going out to play guitar with a buddy, fought with the wife over my going out, made up with the wife, went out anyway. Not a bad weekend overall. That bonfire sounds like a damned fine idea.
